Anyone got a $1000 I can borrow? LOL!
That is a GREAT price on the saddlebags and racks! $700! IF you're going to buy them, Larry, now's the time!

Good for you!

Yep, I picked her up yesterday. The deal and timing were right. Now I can put 1,000 miles or so on it to make sure it's what I want. If not, I'll sell it and keep the Tiger. I've learned (the expensive way) that you really don't know a bike until you've put some real mileage on it. This is a great way to do it before I sell my beloved Tiger.

We also rode into Tn. and had a lot of fun. Installed a set of Scorpion Syncs on the Versys and they really grip. The Versys is so much fun ,it is almost impossible for me to stay off of it. A little video of Sundays action.

Speaking of tires...How many miles did you all get from the stock 221s. I've got almost 2000 miles and the back looks to be getting done. That's knobby mileage, man.

That's not typical for this or the other side of the pond. Mine have about the same mileage and don't look that worn (I'm guessing 4-5K life). Reports on the international forum seem top be about that or better, depending on riding conditions.

I had about 1300 miles on them and the sides were pretty much gone. The center still looks pretty good.

Tire Shopping for the Versys;

Any opinions or information on the Pirrelli MT60r's? They look to be available in the correct sizes.

Nice Vids WillyT. I didn't see those new tires

I am either going with those or the Distanzias. Chapparrel has good prices, so just need to decide! I loved this bike from the get go, but once the tires and farkles are on, gona be sweet! Lots of camping trips to come this summer!

I need to put a bit more miles on the factory set and than I will order. I would guess about 5000+/- depending on how much you are into the throttle and hard stops. This makes me lean toward the Avon's a bit more. I would like to see your panniers when you get done!

I enjoyed reading this thread tonite & thanks to all you guys for reporting in on your Versys's. I have'nt had a chain drive bike in 10 years. I may be an owner very soon

The Pirellis will be great on the slab, but you'll probably go through 2 or 3 sets in that mileage...

You'll be hard pressed to get more than 4K miles out of the MT60Corsa or Avon Distanzia SM. The name is misleading, both exist in dual sport spec, but not in Versys sizes. The ones that come in Versys sizes (120/70-17 and 160/60-17) are supermoto tires - better traction on the road, but short life. On supermoto singles the average life on a rear is ~3K miles. If you want to get longer mileage, you'd have to use the 150/70-17 Distanzia (same tire big traillies uses, the next size MT60 I can find is a 140/80-17, too narrow for a 4.5" rim). It's not an ideal fit and many shops wont install it, because it's not the same as the original size that comes on the bike, but that will probably give you the mileage you are looking for.

You are right Gustavo! I did a bit more reading after I saw your comment. I will probably go with Pirelli MT60's. Thanks and I am still learning after many years without a bike, especially a dual-sport.
