Looking forward my time here.

So, do you get the 'look' from other riders as well?

I am curious who, a mile from my house, was parked at the auto parts store with a bike which looks a lot like mine. My wife took a pic with her phone.

Just be damn glad it was the auto parts store and not a strip club.

Adding my name

New Versys owner as of March last year. But just now came across this thread. Adding my name.
Bike all stock except lowering link, kickstand plate, and just last week removed windscreen.
2009 Green Versys, current miles 2876.

Have a great week-end all, and I'd rather ride than watch basketball. Will plan on doing both weather permitting.

Givi E41 and Happy Trails racks for sale

Sold the Versys, and still have the panniers and racks. Anyone interested in both or just one of the items? PM for details.

thanks.

I went bike shopping yesterday to look at every bike that fits my needs so I could start narrowing down my search. While my gut was telling me it was Versys all the way, I wanted to do my due diligence and spend the money right. I looked extensively at the Suzuki GSX1250FA, the Weestrom and the V-Strom, the Ninja 650 and 1000, the Z1000, the Connie, the FZ6 and FZ8, the FJR1300, and the Versys. After looking at them all it has left no doubt in my mind that the Versys is the bike for me. It's probably going to be June before I buy, but I will definitely be getting a Versys. Better than all the aforementioned bikes for what I need it to do. I have always liked the Versys, but really A/B'ing with a few other bikes really blew me away on the fit and quality of the bike. The best part is that I can buy the bike, Givi racks and bags, risers, lower the pegs, 12 volt outlet, engine guards and sliders, and pay cash for it all.

I was really impressed with the GSX1250FA. Not really surprised about that as I had always liked the Bandit and almost pulled the trigger on one in 2010. If I was just into long-distance riding I would certainly go with the FJR1300. I was very impressed by how well it felt on someone as short as me. However, I need a commuter bike that is comfortable to ride in traffic. This fall semester I will have class 5 days a week. Come home from class, get changed and ride to work. Aside from all the commuting it has to be good for long-distance, and easy to ride in the twisties when I get the opportunity to take trips. I think the Versys fits that bill the best for me. In all honesty nothing even comes close.

For the first time I saw the 2011 Imperial Red in person. Pictures of it look almost fugly to me, but it looked much better in person. If I can get a good deal on a 2011 I would go for it, but I would much rather have a 2012 black and yellow, it just really appeals to me.

That's good to hear. I too would prefer the black/yellow combo, but I found a good deal on a 2011, ($6750 out the door + tax/tags). So I have all ready bought it sight unseen. I agree that it doesn't look that great in the photos I've seen, but I had also heard that that particular color doesn't photograph well.

That is the price that they quoted me too. When the time is here I am jumping on it at that price.

And yes, that color doesn't photograph well at all. But I am a huge Alabama Crimson Tide fan and the Imperial Red can pass flying my favorite team's colors.

I'm very glad to see that. Mine has 18k and I plan to keep it for at least the next 18k as well.

That is really nice man. Will be picking one up soon and I am going to need to get that kind of mileage out of it.
