What kind of tail box is that, and have you had any opinions on how your passenger likes it? Is it sturdy enough for the person in the back to really lean up against without fear of it snapping off?

I finally heard my Versys run. It was delivered back in December, but today it warmed up enough for me to head out the garage, give it a once-over, and start it up. Now I'm even more excited to take it for a ride, but I'll be riding the KLR until the salt and sand are off the roads, methinks...

I fitted the current ER6n bellypan (or exhaust cover, as Kawasaki call it) and also had to buy the mounting brackets (which fit onto the sump) to replace the Versys ones. An easy job in all, but I did need to dremel a small piece out of the upper left side to allow the gearchange to be fitted and operate properly.

Latest farkles fitted. A set of DRL's mounted to the rad cover (it seems sturdy enough) to aid visability on the road.

And a new MRA screen (non Vario) which, at last after two other attempts, works for me.

And with all the money I've spent on the Versys over the winter, I've just seen my next bike, the new Triumph Tiger 1050 Sport. Doh !!!

But I may just wait and get this summer over riding the versys.

Sorry been a while since I was here If you mean the hand guards they are BarkBusters with the Storm plastics. The kit includes the handlebar weights http://www.barkbusters.net/products/211.html

Wow. Have you had to do much as far as getting into the motor? I'm guessing that with good maintainance it will go 2-3X that easy. What all have you replaced besides tires, oil and filters? rj

So far, the only work I've had to do "in" the cases has been stator R&R when the stator failed at 50k.

WOW!!! I am so jealous! Your bike looks great !!! Lot's better than mine. I am at 72,599 and it looks like it was drug behind a truck for at least half of those miles. Sprockets once, chain twice, tires-lots-, same for oil and filters, but nothing else. Same clutch, same stator, same, same , same...

I do have an R-1 shock with new spring but it's just sitting on my work bench.

Took my 2012 for its first ride yesterday. I thoroughly enjoyed myself - it's a very peppy machine, lots of power and very nimble!

Need to dial in the suspension, though - pretty stiff compared to the KLR!

2,900 miles, just did the 3,000 mile oil change. figured since I was changing oil on the cars, might as well do the bike as well. If mother nature will cooperate, I might get to start riding it on a regular basis.
