Softened the rear-suspension a notch today...rear-tire squeamishness is gone.

I am having trouble keep track of theh days. Planning a 9/15/2008 retirement with 8/6/2008 being the last day at work. An 8/7/2008 airline trip to TN and returning on 8/11/2008. A retirement party on 8/15/2008. And a one-way motorcycle trip to Kenai AK beginning no later than 8/20/2008. Will return home by early November 2008. Oh, before I leave I have to train two people to do what I do at work. Did I mention I am trying to buy a mobile in a 55+ mobile park before I leave for AK. Where am I?

Two Versysi at Gillette MOA
It was great to see Pilot at the MOA rally in Wyoming. About the time he found me, we attracted a crowd...we screwed up...we coulda sold 6 or seven of them that night!
My trip was short and sweet; 330 miles from Denver to Gillette, averaged 80 both ways. Not much traffic, great roads and traveling partners. Spent one day doing Black Hills twisties; Spearfish canyon, Iron mountain, Needles Eye, etc. Fabulous day. The Versys proved it has as much accelleration as a GS/RT, and hangs in easily with them to about 95. Is better in the twisties. GREAT bike. Used no oil. Seat was comfortable, solid ride at 85 all day. Pilot will be back soon to chime in on his multi-week adventure throughout the west on the Vs. Great stuff. |

PIAA 1100's on the Versys
Not much selection on a linear thread, but a racing rep for PIAA said they mounted a pair of 1100's on a Versys for the 8 hours of Daytona. He said the bike did very well. No, I don't remember any details if I even heard of this event. He didn't remember how they mounted them. Anyone have details, pics of that bike? URL's? Thanks. I'm wanting to mount additional lighting. The single headlight is better than average, but if you're going into the country at night, I'd recommend more onboard lumens.

I visit several Versys forums but to me this is the best place. You do not have all those caterories to post into. Just write about what you want and someone will read it and reply. I think forums get carried away with breaking everything down in to smaller caterories. Maybe thie thread will keep going for a long time.

Just looking for some honest feedback please...
How "dirt worthy" is the Versys? I see pics on seconday roads, and some gravel roads....but I have yet to see any knobby equipped Versys on dirt or muddy roads, or stream crossings. Are these conditions out of it's realm? I know my use will be 90% sreet, 10% dirt, but that dirt could be muddy trails. Should I be looking at a KLR, or will the Versys work for me?
