Good info guys, thanks. I just called and ordered a Kawi 16-tooth cog. A few dollars more, but it sounds like it needs the rubber dampers.

Next on the list is a Givi screen.

Pretty simple change, BUT the 92 ft/lbs torque on CS nut is not to be taken lightly. You will need a 1-1/16" 6 point socket and a way to jam the rear wheel in the swingarm. I have a 1-1/2" OD aluminum tube that is just long enough to reach both sides of swingarm to jam the wheel while you use a 3' breaker bar. I can not get it to budge without a 3' extension over my breaker bar.

Think some with a good impact driver have gotten it loose also.

Back to Tires..

On my V, the oem rear was gone at 6500 miles. I re-shoed with a Metz-Tourance (150/70/17). Well at present I have 13K plus miles and the Tourance has way over 50% (like 65-70) tread remaining. I'm impressed and thought i would pass the info along. Ignore if you like buying tires. Also, no significant road noise as reported on the Anakee's. FWIW

Excellent work

Nice job on the change. Just picked up my new V a week ago, and am going to do something similar - was wondering how the contrast of fairing and tank would look. Way slick. How did you do the Kawa/Versys decal?

I do not notice any noise from the Anakee, course I wear earplugs and am nearly death anyway. The tourance and anakee are very similiar, I have the Anakee 2 which is supposed to be long mileage also. We shall see.

On the CS nut, an impact wrench will spin it right off, no bar required. As far as mileage, I seem yo get 2 mpg better with the 16t, after correcting for the 6% ODO error.

Regards,
Wardo

Versys owner in Edmonton!

I got my V on Friday night and have been riding it ever since. I think it's awesome, but being my first bike, I'm a bit biased. ;)

That vid was awesome. I have to admit, I was expecting to see a guy do a lap on a V.

2009 Versys

Stopped by PCP Motorsports yesterday evening to chat with a friend and check on a back ordered part. I picked up the August 2008 issue of Friction Zone magazine (free). In 'Back Talk / Registering A 49-State Bike in California', Amy Holland referenced that the 2009 Versys would be released in California. I spoke with the sales people and they confirmed it should be released in September but they have no specifics of colors, models (if any), or any changes. Actually they had no specifics on any Kawasaki road bikes.

More information please!
