A scenic backroad route would be to head from Boise to Bruneau, cross the desert however you like to Rogerson or Jackpot, then E through the S. TwinFalls hills or on the Old California Trail to Oakley, SE to City of Rocks, then E through Naf to Strevell
, then skirt Black Pine Mt to 9000 S. Rd take you E which will dump you into the Stone, Hobrook, Snowville area, then slightly N of Holbrook there is a road through Wood Canyon and North Canyon into Malad.

If you want to see Jarbidge on the way there are a couple of alternate routes.
YUP! I agree, that's a good route. Rode a good slice of that this past summer

Get to see stuff like this:

And a lot, lot more more..

Well, I'm sitting at my place in Colorado bumming about not being able to ride. I've decided to share a few of my favorite pics from my first real year of DS riding. The first of many. I had a blast meeting all of the people I did. I feel like many of you will become some of my very good friends and I hope that you feel the same about me. I can't take any new pics right now, so with our further ado: My favorites....

First ride in Colorado and the first ride ever on the KLR

Out by Blacks Creek on the way home from Stanley

Mildly impressive mountains

Taking time to stop and smell the flowers

Sometimes we all fall down

A helping hand from friends

Getting to that "super secret" spot

Finding a good spot for lunch

Some peak on my Warren ride. Don't remember the name, but it was spectacular!

Awww..my first flat. Coming into Ola. Chris had the important job. Hold the tube.

Taking a dirt nap heading off of Railroad Ridge looking for some single track that Tom said "Is over that way somewhere"

A devilish sunset at Heaven's Gate

Meeting very interesting people in the middle of nowhere

Stopping at awesome abandoned lookouts

Getting firewood

Awesome glacial runoff in Montana

Riding into the clouds of Glacier NP

Quality time with Dad riding in the snow near Canada

Ok, so the snow turned to ice.

Had to throw one more of Dad in here cause it was one of the best times we've ever had and it was on bikes

Riding shots

The Steens Mtn ride

Snow in September on Steens

Volcanic activity

Fall colors

And the last time I saw any of you...

Hope to see you soon and I can't wait for the riding season!

Well that'd work out just great cause I've never ridden the 450! I keep getting extended in Colorado. Looks like I won't be home til early April. Of course that changes by the hour. This project isn't going so well down here. But, when I do get home I'd love to ride the dirt bikes! I'm definitely keeping that little guy. Gonna be busy gettin the other three ready for sale to pay for the new one. We'll see ya in a month or so! (hopefully)

Any of this group done the tour or Idaho on a big bike? Can certainly take a smaller bike but like the idea of not needing any shuttles. How much fun will one have on a KTM adventure?

Well, to save myself from being long winded, just shim this RR over. This was last summer on a Adventure.

Hey Bud, I just had the KTM out today... really. So, how's things in AZ? (PM me) You name came up today in at the HT pack Light Tech day. I was there with the motto Not too light but just about right

Everyone was wondering where your hiding out, you've been off he radar there buddy, you need to come out and play. Spring is around the corner Start thinking it so. I would LOVE to RETIRE again but my Wife has this dang thing about that thought. I will say this... the rate I'm bumping heads with management (much younger[career building] than me and can't understand K.I.S.S.)I may be retired again sooner than one thinks would be win-win for me!!!!

Want to ride that southern section with me? you know the one you bailed on me. only reverse this time.

Hi Sam,

It had just got to 1 degree above zero when I posted this morning and everything is covered in a layer of snow. The sky is blue and it's mighty pretty but dang it's cold out not at all spring like.

The good news is it's only a few weeks until the Spokane Motorcycle Show so at least I will be able to drool all over the pretty motorcycle goodies.

OK Boise area it looks like spring is going to be there before it gets to us so I'm counting on you to show me some riding pictures and don't forget to stop and smell the flowers.
