The Steens mudbath just reminded me I needed to take a look at the linkage since I never got around to it this past winter like I had planned. I serviced it 2 years ago and it was all good, sometime last year the seals wore out enough that water got in the center set on the rocker arm. Those two bearings and bushing were solid rust. It will probably ride like a Cadillac now.

Same thing happened to my XR. One season they looked great, the next they were rusted solid.

The 2nd annual Stellrecht Father Son Ride just got planned for August. Remember this guy from my ride report?

Well, now since the bro moved to the West Coast, he will be making the ride complete!!

This is the bro

Dad is riding the Goldwing from Wisconsin to Boise. Dad and I are riding to Redmond, OR. Then the three of us are heading to Northern Cali to pick up the 101. Ride that all the way North and around to Olympia, WA. Then over to Yakima and back down to Redmond. Dad and I have three more days together at that point with a route yet TBD. I was thinking 395 North from John Day to Pendleton, Walla Walla, Lewiston, and back. Then dad heads home. Can't wait!!!!!!

That's one of the many things I will be looking at on the KLR before it gets sold...Thanks for reminding me. Put it in my notes.

I made it through the long winter fine and dandy..........

But this spring SUCKS!!!

Here is me enjoying the wind today:

I really feel for the people in tornado alley. This weather may suck but at least I still have a roof over my head.

I am so inclined to agree Ed. I just got back from up out of Cascade, rode up yesterday to ride or at least scout out the west side of West Mountain... yea right! Looked promising but up at No Business the Sh@# hit me just snuck up and wham. I hauled butt to the trailer to hole up for the night, only to find out I was out of Propane.. No Heat, No cooking. Had a small heater in the bed room I listen to the rain all night long (no let up) this morning it was sleeting. The mountains around the valley were green yesterday are white today.

Cold ride down with summer gloves.

Fyi- big willow closed again

http://www.blm.gov/id/st/en/info/new...s-closure.html

BLM FOUND A WEED THAT MIGHT BE ENDANGERED . MOTORCYCLES ARE THE GREATEST THREAT ( NOT COWS, GOATS, SHEEP OR HORSES )

"Effective immediately, the BLM is closing 37 miles of roads and trails to motorized off-highway vehicle (OHV) recreational travel on public lands north of Big Willow Creek in Payette County to protect habitat for Packard’s milkvetch. Motorized travel on lands adjacent to these roads and trails is also restricted. Packard’s milkvetch was recently listed as a candidate species for protection under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS). The closure affects approximately 7,100 acres northwest of Emmett, Idaho, which the BLM administers.

Packard’s milkvetch is found only in a 10-square-mile area in Payette County, Idaho. There are 26 known sites within this area where the plant currently grows, 17 of which are on BLM- administered public lands. The USFWS has identified OHV use as one of the imminent and primary threats to the species. The USFWS estimates that failing to control OHV impacts to the milkvetch and its habitat could lead to its listing as Threatened or Endangered under the ESA. Unauthorized OHV activity directly and indirectly impacts the milkvetch by destroying plants, increasing sedimentation from adjacent areas, and allowing noxious and invasive weeds to establish and expand.

I got all my parts except for one seal. It should be here Thursday so I'm still looking good. This was my first time ordering OEM parts from Bike Bandit instead of the local dealer. I won't make that mistake again.
The DR is back together and ready to rumble.

It seems like every time I try to camp at Birch Creek the weather goes to crap.

A big, sarcastic, thumbs-up to the government.
