New Rider

Greeting and Salutations,

I just bought a DR350. I have some expirence riding but mostly trails. I am hoping to start off with some shorter rides around boise. Any suggestion of rides? I have been up 8th street and trail 4. Suggestions on how to find groups or people to ride with? thanks Coby

Thank you.

I'll be in that area on that date too (West Fest) I was talking to someone about that yesterday and he thinks it's still closed at the 8500 foot range due to snow and possibly the deadfalls not been cleared too Guess we'll see.

The V-Strom rally is in town ~ I've not doubt you could ride sweep with Phil if you wanted to get out with a group of guys.

I'm not sure, yet, if I'm riding this weekend or not. I usually do over-nighters rather than day rides, though, when I do get out.

Hi Coby.

Motoidaho.com is a good place to start, for folks to ride with, with joining groups of riders.

I'll try to get a n00b ride posted soon, as it seems there area several new Boise riders looking to meet other riders. Maybe next weekend when Phil isn't trailing the 'trail of tears' on his Strom.

Near Hat Point

Ben and I enjoyed some amazing views along the Snake last weekend. My own report will be delayed by too many other writing projects this month but here's a taste:

Getting REady for the CDT Ride....

Three of us (Jim C., Lowell M., and myself) are leaving early Monday morning (July 18th) on a 4400 mile round trip to ride the Continental Divide Trail (Antelope Wells, NM to Roosville, BC, Canada). We will be gone 16 days (back August 2nd). I am a little worried about some of the high mountain passes in Colorado still being closed with snow. Some of them are 10-11,000 feet. The Las Conchas fire in central New Mexico will divert us for about 40 miles of the trail due to FR closures. I will have to be more diligent in writing a report of this trip than I was of our Inuvit, NWT, Canada ride last year. (I still haven't written that one up!)
Hope to hook up with some of you in August, and especially hope that more of you will sign up for the 4th Annual I.A.M.C. Ride over Labor Day weekend in Cascade, ID. Check it out at the following site: ( http://motoidaho.org/node/515 )

If I'm not mistaken, it's the campground up there near Hat Point.
