Sweet, I hate being the only one trying to find Ed in the desert. It'll be nice to have another set of eyes to look for his dust trail

Any reports from Idaho City area?

I got a event to go to around Idaho City in 3 weeks. Wondering if it's going to be worth riding my bike down (I'm up in Moscow) or if I'm going to be stuck to pavement most of the time. Never been around that area this time of year. Hopefully the weather will cooperate for the next few weeks. I have enough of playing snowmobile with the KLR around here.

Mountains above 6000' will still have snow, but there is a big ole' desert South and West of Boise to ride in... thousands of things to see and do out there on a dual sport.

Yep, Trinities are still White, White, and White!

I've heard that the lower trails in IC are riding nice, but I would suspect that all the fun stuff higher up is still snowed in. I did see a posted photo of Mores Summit a week or two back and there was a couple ft of snow roadside.

After Work Ride On Wednesday

Let's meet at the Shell station by Hawkin's Pac-Out on Bogus Basin rd on Wednesday at 6:00. We'll take Cartwright rd to Dry creek rd to Hwy 55, drop down to Beacon light, the north on Eagle and out Willow creek. Meet up with Pearl, North on Sandhollow, then continue on Johnson creek. Johnson creek is the most difficult leg of the trip, a bit rutted up, and rough in some places, but firm. It would be a little work but I wouldn't be too afraid to take a Tiger or Tenere through there :) Then connect to Shalerock and east to Horseshoe Bend. We will then head home by way of the old Hwy. Depending on time we could head west again on Pearl, and drop back in on Willow creek and Eagle rd, or you can just slab it the ten miles back to Boise on 55. About 55 miles, 19 of that being dirt, to get back to the Chevron on Beacon light. I pre-rode the loop today and it would be great on a TW or a Tenere !

If you haven't seen it, ITD has cameras along most of the highways that can give some sense of conditions at different areas and elevations: http://hb.511.idaho.gov/main.jsf (click the "Cameras" tab on the left).

Can't make this week due to my son's LAX game that night.

Rode the two track from behind Micron to Bonneville point today. The desert is still pretty wet with water in all the low spots, and the uphill road is badly rutted. I was hoping to find the road to that goes above Lucky Peak dam and come out at Turner gulch boat ramp, but the track was fenced across and marked as private.

We do this one a lot, especially when heading north to Whitebird, Doumecq, Slate Creek, Camas Prairie, Hells Canyon, Wallowas, etc. My rider bro in law lives in North Eagle, so access is easy.

Rather than east on Shalerock to Emmett, we go north via Montour to Sweet, Ola, Third Fork, Dodson Pass, Indian Valley or Farm To Market, Midvale, US 95. Lots of speedy sections and no cars. Beautiful this time of year.

There was a barbed-wire gate up there that was open at times. Do you still pass through that gate in the valley between Bonneville Point and Micron?

There is a gate, but it is open now, and also there are like 4 trails available to get on the main track. The "trash dumpers" are unfortunately leaving lots of crap around out there.
