So, we turned around and road back the oh so amazing Hells Canyon Scenic Byway (which is incredibly scenic and an incredible byway)

We went to Scotty's in Pine, where we dealt with a real peach of a lady. Kind of woman makes you want to ask why, exactly she DOESN'T want your business.
We were there for, among other things, fire wood. How ever would we get it back to camp? Heath got an idea and was very excited. As a result of the idea, Heath had wood:

From dictionary.com:

fagot: N. A bundle of twigs, sticks, or branches bound together.

That's quite a fagot in your lap, Heath.

Back at camp we proceeded to drink a few adult beverages. After that, I realized that a great way for me to heat a can of clam chowder would be to just toss the can into the fire for a few minutes. Makes sense, right?

It heated up. The result? A rather surprising "bang" and Chowderplosion '08.

The distance was pretty impressive:

If your wondering if I was sitting in front of the can when it blew, the answer is yes. The next morning Heath found the lid just over 12 feet from the fire pit.

Finally, our very own sign. Heath, caption?

That's all I got.

501's and T-shirts man, none of that sissy stuff for this biker..

My Harley days it was 501's and t-shirts with my HD leather jacket (that saved my butt in 76) that was ATGATT in the 70's

That part is debatable, it could have been April when it hapenned. Also, realize that "bang" was not neccesarily a sound...

It was fun watching the factory riders go really fast. I handed Idaho Joe his goggles on one pit stop, end of story. No pics, damn I am a dumb a** sometimes!

Progress

Started out the morning looking like this:

I pulled the side case off, to clean the oil screener.

Good thing I did!! Look at all that crap!!!

That all came from my engine!

Put the front back together.

Put the exhaust back on, cleaned the air filter, put rad fluid in, hooked up all the electrical, blah, blah, blah.

By evening, I was ready to put oil in, and put the tank on.

The end result... drum roll, please...

I believe this ride was conceived in the parking lot at the IAMC club meeting that you didn't show up to; that's about 14 days ago and it solidified as a ride about 10 days ago... man talk about impromptu ride

Ryan, your new/rebuilt stallion sounds really strong more like an XR now without the suspension Get her broke in now.

Ya, ya ~ we were at the dunes... what can I say?

I got the KLR 1/2 way broken in the morning. After it cools down, I'll take it out for round 2 this evening.

That's allright, I'll be there in the cage this summer with the fam.

I'll be chewing some pavement later this summer...

Hope you 'hose-heads' have a nice ride... and a safe ride.

Phil, consider Seal Skins this time... unless you're infatuated with the Subway bags. If if any of you have Frog Toggs... toss them and
get some pvc rain gear before you go!

What are you saying? I have a set I bought and have never used yet! I also have my maritime rain suit that is awesome but I can't wear my armor jacket under it (remember the red jacket I had on the ICT Hammett ride)

What's up with the Frog Togg? I spent enough money on it!
