Here's my 1996 with almost 38k miles. I've put 8k on it since I bought it in March this year. I have to admit, I love this bike!

One-off
Originally built by my buddy Griz from S.Dakota.
He had it on his 1100 until that bike was totaled on icy Spearfish Canyon.
He sent the beak to me, I reworked it and installed in on Big Bird.

And here is mine, a '97 model with ABS, heated grips and the works. 67.000km on the dial when bought a few days ago. ;)

In a few days my Garmin Quest will be mounted, along with an Autocom AV Pro intercom.

Magnificent job! That is how they should have been from the start. In my opinion the 1100s were the best gs so far. It seems with each new model that comes out they just get more unreliable and with a higher price tag. Didn't hear much about major problems with the 1100s. I hesitate to purchase any new BMW until they fix the rearends. Too many failures happened in the iron butt this year. I did not participate but felt ashamed when I read about the number or rearend failures. Again, beautiful bike and looks very light.

I reread Brent's post and forgot to add the weight. Sorry Brent. The bike weighs in at around 450 lbs. (204 Kg.) full of gas and oil and regular air in the tires.

Here's my '96 out on Sunrise Highway today and then from this morning.

Today was my first "real" ride on the bike and it was simply amazing!! I can see why people take these to the track too, simply amazing in the curves!

Riding through the areas damages by the fires was eerie . . .

Here's my 95 R1100GS at the founder's grove redwoods. 82,000 miles now, the last 3,500 under my watch. Hell of a bike.

Here she is some where deep in the wilds of Wisconsin where I picked it up Friday.

Put some new rubber on just in time to blast it back to NH Saturday. Can't wait to get it out on some good dirt roads in Vermont...and Nova Scotia...and...

BTW, I blame all of you for me having to do this!
