Software Updates for BMW Zumo

Does anyone know how to update the BMW Zumo? The latest software version for the 550 is 3.30, my BMW Zumo is version 2.10 and the auto updater says there are no new versions to download. I want all the cool stuff the new version offers, like the ability to turn off auto recalculate when off route. Anyone have any ideas?

Go to this link and download the WebUpdater software. Install it on your PC. Then attach your zumo to the PC via USB and run WebUpdater.

CAVEAT: Because you have a "special" BMW ZUMO, you may not be able to use the v3.30.

I would suggest calling Garmin Tech and asking before manually installing v3.30. Otherwise, go to this page and download the v3.30 update and install manually.

Bah, for some dumb reason they did not make any updates for the BMW Zumo yet so you cannot turn off auto-recalculate and all the other nice stuff the updates give you.

Ah well it was free I guess I should be happy with what it has.

What I find REALLY annoying is the BMW marketed this thing as a 550...but the more I research the more I find it's missing some significant 550 features. That's not really a 550 then is it? It's more like false advertising.

Hey! We'll give you a free 550...except it's not a 550 we're just SAYING it's a 550...

Tom,
Have not had a lot of time to "play" with mine yet but try either navigate "off road" or "Detour" I think when you select "Detour" it will turn off the recalculation. In other words you are telling the GPS "I know I am off course" Does this thing lay down tracks?? I don't see that anywhere on the menu's or manual.

The other winner

Good question - Go to Wrench -> User Data -> Manage Trip Log. If "Manage Trip Log" is not there then they have turned off tracks. I can't imagine that they would do that.

Did the update.

Got a new screen with a 360 compass, elevation, speed etc.

It's good.

I have a BMW Zumo, the updates do not work for them and they have no ETA when they will update it.

On your BMW branded Zumo or a Garmin one?

Thought that might be the case. Bummer. Not vary useful for most motorcycling activities at the level it is now. I think your best option is to write a letter to BMW Motorrad and ask them to have Garmin update the BMW Zumo code base to the Garmin Zumo 550 level.

Interesting BMW would choose to castrate their flavor of the Zumo. I was planning to buy a F800ST in December or January but the dealers have been trying to entice me with the free Zumo deal that's going until next week. No sense in buying early - I'll wait until winter and see if they bring on dollar incentives and low financing.
