I'd need a really big bell...

Do you get a "spoiler" effect at speed?

I made these for my Ortlieb soft bags. I also made a top rack extension to hold a duffel bag.

My Homemade/Converted farkles for 07 BMW F650

I'll start with the convert... I have an07 F650GS. Apparently BMW changed the weld of the foot to the sidestand from the previous years, because the TT fat foot does not fit on the 07. I spoke to TT, and they were very nice about it, and surprised the the weld had changed. They allowed me to return the foot I bought, but I decided that I liked their basic design, so I just fabbed a new top plate to fit.
Here it is installed:

Here is how the original doesn't fit:

And here are the component pieces. The plate on the bottom right is the original top plate:

Here it is before installation next to the original top plate. The pencil shading is my estimate of how much material I would have had to remove in order to make it fit. (this was the initial suggestion from TT, but that was before I supplied pictures):

Next would be my auxiliary fuse box mount, which I put in the tailbox:

A quick explaination of that can be found on this post:
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...=311572&page=2

And the current project that is almost finished is a first aid kit and bracket. I had the sticker made from reflective vinyl as I plan to mount this on the back of my left Caribou side case. As you can see, it's a Pelican as well. Gotta love those cases! I plan to install it on the bike as soon as Lowes has the bolts and rubber washers I need (they were out yesterday!). The case is held on with two snap buckled straps. I am thinking of making a similar set-up for tools at some point, but maybe with a lock. I figured that I didn't want the first aid kit locked in case some one should need it. If it gets stolen I'll be bummed, but at least the hard part is already done and I'd just need to buy a new case and supplies.

That's about all for now, until my bank account builds up and I can "justify" something new.

Keith

I was thinking about gettin one of those Kolpin fuel tanks and see if there is a convenient way for me to carry one on my R12GS next year on my Alaska trip. I'm wondering if it'd fit in place of the passenger seat, in front of the stock rack and Vario trunk and allow me to stack gear on top of it?
