It's been a huge source of entertainment and learning, as ever since a small child I've loved airplanes and to this day look to the sky at every droning sound from there. And it's been great fun to watch the minds at work of some of you guys and read the friendly back and forth banter. As much as this thread has become a staple in my daily routine, there is a small handfull of regular participants in it who have also become part and parcel to my days. I almost feel like I know you guys.

Whether the thread ends or continues is up to that small group, but I just can't let it end without saying thanks to you guys.

Thanks

To clean an image, right click, save it, then open it with Paint, make a few changes by copying some back ground and pasting it where you want, and then saving it, upload it to your server, and then post to the forum....

Can anyone identify this one? All I know is it is from Circa 1953 and picture was taken in France.
It was in a ride report someone sent me the other day about their Dad. I can't find the Report now to give credit to the Author, but I will post up as soon as I find it. There are two cool planes in the RR.
I'll post up the other on in a minute.
Ride report info
Motorcycle Tour Europe 1953
In the Summer of 1953 my father Geoffrey Gander and his friends set off on their annual Motor Cycling holiday around Europe.

Here's the 1st plane.

Here's the second one. Same ride report and same trip.

Yes, I identified the second as a Bristol 170 Mk. 32. The first is a Miles M-57 Aerovan.

Thanks Klay, I went back 50 pages last night to see if anyone had posted it yet. Only 1000 more pages to peruse. The Miles is an interesting Airplane. It would work well out of the airfield we have in my back yard.
(New Fiarview Airport, TX)

From the picture I posted I thought it was a twin boom design like a P 38 or OH 10A Bronco.

NA-73X... the first P-51 prototype. In these thousands of pages, this is about the only one I knew on sight.

It was just an example of how to use Paint to change the image. I just deleted the shadow and re-saved it. I should have changed the image name too. Below I erased the nose art and the tail number and the country of origin....
