Last week I looked up at a strange sound, and saw a B-17 flying overhead. It was awesome.

No APCs afaik. The money shot on the F4 would show a 2up longnose.

Oh, and the little xB in the shot is mine.

I was in Niagra Falls a few years ago and looked up to see what plane was making all that noise. A Lancaster bomber was flying a circuit over the Falls at about 2,000'. It meant a lot to me because my dad was a Lanc pilot, but I had never seen one fly before. This one is based in the Niagra area is one of the two flying versions left.

Richard,

That plane's based in Hamilton at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum. It's a remarkable bit of flying history. Only the RAF currently have another flying example.

If you ever come back to Southern Ontario, let me know. I've got an AME/Pilot buddy who works with the museum and he can give us a tour like you wouldn't believe.

I'd like to see it up close. That Lancaster was in Sudbury, where my dad lived at the time, and they invited all the former Lanc pilots for a ride. Dad refused the ride. He said last time he flew one he had to jump out and spend a year with the Dutch underground. He'd had enough. Lots of good stories.
