I am curious what the weight difference is between the stock can and any of the aftermarket mufflers which have been installed. The stock exhaust muffler on the X Challenge looks like a bazooka. Big and heavy looking.
10 pound weight savings maybe ?? |

It's not that dramatic. The stock exhaust weighs 5,5 kgs (around 12 lbs) and the Leovince weighs around 3 kgs. So the weight difference is around 2 kgs.

would the bike run more than with the insert or not? Tomorrow i am goin to try the FIM insert and NO isert to see what is the difference on power. By the way one of the screw of the X3 tail cup was broken when i tried to open it, so a half of the washer remained into de hole . I went today to someone who took it out and made a new hole, i do not know how to explain this. they are very poor quality so even the others are hard to screw them.Well , tomorrow i´ll try both options.

The bolts are stainless steel, into the stainless steel back end plate. If there is only a tiny wire edge or barr between the thread, you will strip the complete thread off.
They should have used plated bolts imho. |

You were right. This FIM insert is simply unaffordable in terms not only of social acceptance but on your own ears and shame. I just turn on the engine on the garage and the crazy thunder exploded. I turned off immediately and went back to EURO insert. I simply cannot feel myself for even going through the corner with that FIM insert, i would not feel well and also i do not want to be spotted everywhere i go. I would not mount it even at Morocco.

Staintune Exhaust
I just spoke with STAINTUNE and they are looking for a donor bike to manufacture an exhaust for the GX. I have offered them my bike for a few days after Christmas and they should then be able to offer a Staintune system late Feb/March.

Good work!! I posted this reply in the Threadfest:
Excellent Steve!! See if you can score me a discount or a demo unit!! It was MY idea after all!! Remind them that the LeoVince comes up short on the heat shield where it joins to the header pipe. so they need to create something to improve on that.. p.s. tell them I like it quiet!

Two words: Leo Vince
New XChallenge arrived yesterday, traded the 1200GS...
![]() I also fitted the Leo Vince X3 slip-on... My initial thoughts: For me the sound level is just about perfect with the road legal Euro insert (the insert that was already fitted). It completely transforms the bike with regards to throttle response - immediate action on the back wheel. If you are looking for something as quiet as the stock can, this is not it, though... I think MaxCool summed it up quite nicely: "LeoVince with legal insert: fruity clear bark, but still legallish" - with the focus on the "ish"... I agree about fitting an additional heat shield to the header just before the end can. So far I am a happy camper!

Steve,
Surely Staintune will give you a can if they borrow your bike... it's understood!! ![]() Well, by Dirt Hugger's description, it sounds like the LeoVince will be too loud for me.. let's see what Staintune does..

![]() and the side by side comparison of the stock can and the new leo vince: ![]() As you can see the Leo is much smaller, and looks way better. Now I am going to go ride it in this freezing weather, i'll let you guys know what I think. |

Hah, not even 7 miles into a ride and I burn 2 holes (decent size too) in to my pant leg. Oops! Watch out for that pipe. As far as loudness, it is louder than stock but I don't think it's unreasonable. It's very "crisp" and I like the sound of it. Ok, now i'm going for a real ride.
