New farkles on my X

Today I finished off the tail tidy with Rizoma LED blinkers, and installed the Pivot Pegz. I also installed the Emig damper set up which kicks ass as well as a set of Tuono mirrors.... I love this bike!

A few weeks ago a Member posted that Soth sound BMW had 47 tooth rear sprockets for sale,so I called. He was right and I've got one in hand to throw on my X. I'll take a picture when its installed.

The Stock replacement is $75 and the 47 tooth was $54, so a chance to save a few bucks and get better offroas gearing. I'm going to try the 47 with a 13 and a 14 to find a good balance of street gearing and trail gearing.

My only big complaint with the X is the terrible gear box for technical trail riding...... Maybe Ohlins was right, its a street bike

Yeah , here's to hoping you got the 49T manufactured by Sprocket Specialists (Part#2948) sold through South Sound BMW for the G650CH at a cost of $54.95.

47T is stock gearing.

Yeah it's the 49t and it's preeeety good with the 14. For single track I'd prefer the 13t on the front I'd wager but I suppose "dual sport" is all about compromise.

I'm like a lot.

I started with the 13 this afternoon and went for a ride. Its to low for D/Sing but I'll definately use the 13 for the next MotoX. I put the 14t on and its much better. I'm doing a 400 mile fire road, tarmac, powerline, jeep trail, logging road ride tomorrow and I can't wait to see how it works.

Nothing better than a new chain and sprockets

So Crank.. Is there much speed lost with the 14/49 combo? You are effectively dropping 5 teeth from stock (15/47) Where can I get my hands on one?

It's in the index but look here.

I can still cruise fine at 70MPH with the 14/49 combo.

I've got the 49T rear from South Sound with the stock 15T front. Cruising at 75 mph indicated with TKC-80s is doable, but mileage goes down to ~42mpg on the highway. (Tested it on the trip from Seattle down to SSBMW and back.) OK when necessary to keep up with traffic, but 5-10mph slower feels more "right" with the motor.

YMMV of course.
