Wow... In a few years you are going to be buying lots of tires.

Better that then makeup and dresses. ( I have 2 girls and a boy.)

Slightly more $$, but still cheap enough.

Oh, and the "GS" styled tank decals I have came from member fozzyber on Stromtrooper.com, here's his order page:

I still have my older son Kyles 1979 JR50 so the only fighting will be is who gets to ride the new bike. Those 2 fight over everything anyways. The younger one almost always wins. Bring your son down this summer and he can play on our track.

I'm sorry guys for the shitty weather. Yes, the 40 degrees and drizzle is completely my doing.

Last Friday, it was 70 and sunny...and my Strom looked like this.

Had a few things to do...
Valves
Check secondaries
Service forks, seals & oil
Rebuild water pump
Rewire accessories
Repair cowling
Throttle Body sync
TPS check
Coolant & Oil
Rear Swingarm & shock maintenance
etc.

Now, after 5 days of garage time, the bike looks like this....and the weather is predictably lapsing back into winter.

Never fails.

Oh well, I'm ready for Spring even if I threw the eastern seaboard & midwest into an cooling trend.

What is this "servicing a V-Strom" that you speak of?

I suppose I'll have to wash mine so I can work on it. Phooey.

I bet Denny gets a little sick feeling every time he sees how dirty mine is.

It's what anal people do.

I'm not usually so persnickety, but I was at the 15k first major service and had some repairs to do, so if I'm going to strip it nekked and start turning wrenches, might as well do everything on time and establish a baseline for what it needs.

The good is, my valves were all perfectly in spec, right in the middle of the adjustment range....so that's good they'll likely never move but now I know. Also, my front fork seals & oil looked immaculate, cleanest fork oil I've ever seen. The swingarm was mostly good, a few spots that needed cleaning & grease, but now I know how long it takes to start getting into the bearings and harming stuff.

Also, it gave me an excuse to buy some tools I didn't have, and that's always a plus.

ETA, for any of you Strom owners I did the "$5 air filter" mod to my existing air-filter, which if you haven't heard of it you cut/trim the existing plastic edge off the filter element itself, saving the gasket & base. Smooth it down to the surface of the base, then silicone an existing $5 auto air filter onto the base rather than replace the whole thing. It was very easy, and from here on out a $5 filter will replace the OEM, just pull up the silicone, re-do it with a new filter, viola. I didn't snap pics, but here's the thread for it.
http://www.stromtrooper.com/showthre...ghlight=filter

Kind of a neat project, that'll save you some dough!

And here I thought it was impossible to out-jew a KLR owner, but it looks like the Strom owners win
