Assistance Needed

Folks - the OP Tim pointed me to this thread as I am looking for a little help in the Dublin/Columbus area.

A new job has me commuting to Columbus/Dublin about every other week and being a keen cyclist, I'd love to find a way to get some cycling in instead of vegetating in the hotel room. With that in mind, would anybody have the space and be willing to let me stash a bicycle in their garage every other week, pref in the Dublin area where I stay ? I'm more than happy to pay rent - possibly in the form of adult beverages of your choice ? I generally fly in on a Monday and leave on a Friday so I'd likely swing by on a Monday pick the bike up and drop it back of Thursday night.

Cheers

Not a problem, but I am in the middle of town, aways from Dublin. If nobody closer ponies up, I can loan you some garage space, at least a bicycle's worth.

The cool part was meeting this guy. ;D

As some of you know HD's don't impress me, but this was a case of the rider makes the bike. He's 76 years old and isn't local. Nope, all the way from Fairbanks, Alaska and he's not done yet! Heading to North Carolina and then back to Ohio and then some more time around the coast before heading home. Bike has over 90,000mi. It was great chatting with him and we hope he has a great ride the whole time.
Thanks for the great pre-ride, Luke! It was a good mix of gravel and backroads. That Harley rider was an interesting fellow. He said he works the Alaskan diamond mines in the winter and rides an assortment of Harleys, Japanese bikes, and a BMW the rest of the year. He's thinking of shipping a Harley to Europe and riding there sometime soon. -Mike

I'm not in Dublin proper, but I work in Dublin and live in the Bethel Road & Sawmill Road area. The wife sold her Buell Blast so we've got space in the garage.

PM me if you're interested.

Yes, as soon as I get my next free weekday off at work. I'm not expecting you to hold it if that's what you're asking.

Rootfest!

Ride like the wind!

The guy that rides that dorky lookin' blue KLR you may have seen on some of my posts, Pete, knows a couple of the members of the band Rootbound http://www.rootbound.net/fr_intro.cfm http://www.myspace.com/rootboundmusic. They have a wing-ding in West Union every year called "Rootfest". Rootbound and a few other bands play from evening until early morn at a hay farm on SR125 just west of West Union. I'm checking to see if anyone off the Ohio thread would like to camp and party. It's August 20th, a Saturday. The tickets are $15 until two weeks before the show, and $20 after. The bands play in a big barn, and the entry fee includes camping on the grounds. The place looks to me to be about 15 acres around the barn, and another 15 or so they park cars in. The owner of the property sets up 6 or 7 bonfires, and as people arrive, if they're camping, they load their stuff on a haywagon, and he tractors them to a campsite by one of the fire pits.

Pete knows these guys, and the owner of the farm, Cliff, told us that if we get enough riders together, he'll rope off one of the pits just for us. If you buy a ticket and want to come down a day or two early, Cliff has no problem with setting up camp on the farm for a day or two before the show. (Although I don't know what you would do for entertainment, the roads are pretty sucky in that area, all twisty and shit .) The show is BYOB (Adams County is dry, but you can buy beer in Manchester, Russellville, or Portsmouth.). There will be a couple of Adams County's Deputies roaming around the place, and a squad on site. There will be food vendors on site; I have no idea what they'll be serving.

I'll be there early Saturday to set my tent, I hope to see some of you guys there.

On another, but similar note: Dox is getting the Ohio Gathering together, and I'll be attending that also.

I know there aren't too many hockey fans on this thread, but I gotta get this off my chest.

Dan Patrick as the NBC Stanley Cup Final host .... Utterly. Epic. Fail.

It's damp in spots. Manchester is in Adams County and you can now buy beer at the Marathon Station in Seaman.

Im not watching, as my Penguins took an early powder this year, but I'd have to agree...DP always seemed like a smarmy twat to me.

Hockey? Is that where the two different gangs show up to fight and a game breaks out?
