I think the general consensus is that they are best for bikes of 650cc or under.

I would suspect a really out of ballance tire would cause the tire to lightly slip as it tried to hop and cause a bald spot the way a bicycle rear tire will when you have a dent in the rim where the brake gets grabby. A wheel bearing will make you bike handle funny, just don't ask how I know

I've had zero problems with them on the 1000, but I knew going in that they are not a tire that will tolerate running at low pressures and high heat on a big bike.

If you keep the pressures up, they're great. Run them low, with weight, and they'll wear fast or in the case of the bias ply's, delaminate.

BTW, I think the Radials are all that's available now, so it's less of an issue. Mostly you'll burn them up if you run them low on a big bike.

I have a brand new Scorpion Trail for the Versys if interested.

I should think that you would easily get 5K out of them on the Versys, I wouldn't say that hey are all that much better on gravel and such than the Roadtec Z6s I had on the bike previously but in rain or on mixed surfaces they really inspire confidence.

Confidence is what we're looking for, thanks

Call it the 9,10,11 ride. About 160 miles of what Western Ohio think is twisty road with a little gravel thrown in for shits and giggles. Thanks to Scott for lunch at Desperado's. Not a bad joint at all. Lisa, good seeing you and having a chance to catch up. PS I like the stealth black S-10 as much as EJ's graphic strewn ride.

Speedway

Lunch

The big three all represented with a big rock.

Thanks for lunch, Scott. Luke, you put together a nice mix of roadways and gravelways - the bike and I appreciated a gentle introduction to gravel. I need to try some gravel with the Traction Control in a less aggressive setting. Great fun day - and good pictures. I tried to steal them for my digital album but they come out as a thin line...

I will not mention the introduction to Roadkill Redux... but interesting concept.

Let's do it again... I'll buy lunch next time.

And hey, I distinctly remember you saying you liked my bike much better than "no-show" EJV - but that could have been the voices in my head??

Thanks again!

Lisa.

2008 w/ 12,000+ miles. All the off road add ons / guards. New non-DOTknobs. Mechanically great, plastic looks a bit rough.

Might also trade for a DR650...

Edit, went ahead and listed it:

No I said yours isn't all beat up like EJ's. Keep riding with me and we'll get it there.

So thanks to my Oregon Scientific Camera I bought like 5 years ago, I have really crappy quality video of the ride. But I hope my touch ups at least make it fun to watch.

I had a great time. Came home and took a ride on the mower, now I'm riding the couch & watching F-1 qualifying I recorded this morning. Next time let's head south-east, I'm sure we'll get more folks to go along then.

We'll have to see how the off road riding schedule goes. Very likely as the temp goes down and the trails get icey I'll be doing on road riding more.
