DUCK!
It wasn't a duck, it was a rabbit.

Was great to meet Rasthomas. and its always good to hang with guernsey. We were out in the NE part of Guernsey County, and slipped over in Belmont and Harrison. We worked gravel out to Piedmont Lake, then returned via the on-road sections of the Buckeye Trail.

Hmmm....is that ONeill's gig? I remember hearing about it but haven't gone.

So many guys bring MG's out here I get to finger all the cool stuff without much effort, but it sounds like a good time.

"looks like good times. I shoulda checked in." Yes FatherX it is just the kind of riding you would like. I have 12 days off after Sunday if you want to do some riding.

I think it came from the trees, I saw your evasive maneuver. Riding third, I was in the position of coming upon buzzards as they were returning to the scene of the roadkill, but never got that close.

Yesterday wifey and I went to the KTM dealer in Reynoldsburg. He has a total of five 990 Adventures for sale there. Two 2010's and three 2011's. He is willing to do some trading but the wife thought $14,000 for a bike was a little steep. The owner has raced in the ISDT in Europe many times. He took me to his office and showed me all the pictures and the framed jacket and his magazine covers. He also has some nice restored Pentons and Huskys there. Really nice place.

Wally's got the creds on dirt bikes, for sure. If I were shopping for a Katoom that's where I'd go.

You don't like the 990 Adventures? Maintenance or initial investment?

Both.

The only KTM I would own are the 2-smokes, nothing else in their lineup appeals to me at all.

I'll admit the 990 is a hoot to ride, as long as it belongs to someone else...but the overheating, water pump issues, wonky FI, head gaskets, and other things are inexcusible on a 14k bike. And, I don't say this as a knock against the 990, but it's a bike that doesn't suit my riding or traveling. I wouldn't own it if it were $8k, let alone $14.

I'd rather have a Tenere and a WRR, if I had my druthers.

Funny, even with the 950se I've been thinking about how nice it would be to have a 990adv just because it suites the type of riding I do more than the dl1000. Plus it would simplify parts on hand a lot. So if you find a 990adv that someone wants to trade for a dl1000 let me know.

Info Note: Machine gun shoot

Yeah, The shoot is Bill's gig. I have arranged special parking for motorcycles- just drive to the right of normal parking - circle around the face of the quarry cliff, special points for carrying an extra can of gas on the rack with concentric circles on it.
