I'll admit the 990 is a hoot to ride, as long as it belongs to someone else...but the overheating, water pump issues, wonky FI, head gaskets, and other things are inexcusible on a 14k bike. And, I don't say this as a knock against the 990, but it's a bike that doesn't suit my riding or traveling. I wouldn't own it if it were $8k, let alone $14.

I'd rather have a Tenere and a WRR, if I had my druthers.
I will do more research now for sure. It sure looks good!

A week sooner and you could have had Meef strip his down and hook you up with parts.

Now you're cooler than Meef.

Dox - You'd like the air cannon I have at work for impact testing plastic components. We shoot 1/2" steel balls at 100 - 200 ft/sec. Calibrating it with a chronograph, firing outside into the woods is amusing. It may lack speed, but it has mass.

and before anyone asks, it's an Oehler 35P

Thats the one. I got him to come down a few 100 more. I saw it there a few weeks ago and have been thinking about it since then. I test rode it a few nights ago and loved it. We need to ride together again some time.

You could bring it to Laurelville Sunday. It would be a nice first run for it.

Yes, $14k is steep which is why I bought mine used with a few K on it. I told you to get your butt up here and demo mine for a day, some like it, some hate it, you may hate it. We'll take it and the 640 and ride them back to back and if it's a weekend, maybe get an F800 to join us. My biggest complaint? time spent unwrapping the body to get to the motor, it's like all the wining and dining required to get the clothes off a high maintenance!

Ask yourself 1st, what is your primary intent for the bike? Distance? gravel? off-road? 1 up, 2 up? Think used also, there's already a Tenere sold used this past week. There's also the F800, 800XC. What about that 690 you sent me the picture of?

Don't believe everything you read in the OC section. You have to remember there are thousands of guys on here and things get blown out of proportion fast, even in the BMW section. On my bike, the suspected fuel pump lasted 22k miles, the water pump 42k (and still going), slave cylinder still 100% functional and the head gaskets are still in tact (which I never heard about that one) and I don't baby mine either. And because it is carburated, no herky jerky. The only bikes I haven't over heated were air cooled and I recently picked up a couple used fans in the flea market for both the 640 and 950 to double up the air flow.

Nice. We do need to get out again. I actually have not had the dirt wheels on since we rode last year. If that klx of yours had e start i would contemplate getting it for Lindsay.

After Oktoberfest. I should be able to ride any Saturday.... fingers crossed..... let me know if you want to ride

Need some video of that..

This was for a physics demonstration for a science fair.

Of course, many test fires were necessary. Safety measures were taken, of course.
