Been busy trying to get some good videos for the ADVFilmer channel, which is why I wanna ride to Richland Furnace Saturday. I wanna do some reviews of all ORV areas in Ohio over time and Richland Furnace is small enough to hit it in one day. I think I'm getting better at the videos. Finished up this one on tire balancing last night.

So lke I said I'm headed to Richland furnace on way or another Saturday, anyone who wants to come with from Laurelville is welcome and I'll pick a route depending on who shows up and what sort of riding they'd prefer.
So if someone shows on a Tenere I'll do easy dry stuff, a clapped out KLR gets wet rocky single track, V-stroms get gravel roads and if it's a Harley it'll be through four foot deep mud holes.

I'm kicking around the idea of going. I need to get my suspension sorted out & get some real dirt tires on the bike. I'll probablly do the easy stuff as I am not very accomplished off-road.
I'd skip any AMA or sanctioned dual sport until you're comfortable on tight woods riding, because every one I've been to was more than I would subject a new rider to.

Don't get me wrong, they're awesome fun and not so hard you couldn't ride one, but with the size of the field, I recommend getting your sea legs before jumping in.

UNLESS it has an adventure ride going on at the same time. In that case you can run the adventure route and try the hard sections of that on day 1. Figure the hardest trail on an adventure route is about the same (sometimes the exact same) as the easiest trail on a dual sport route. Either way, go with a patient friend who is willing to help you get through.

Thanks for the input guys, I appreciate it. Not certain if I would do one or both days.

I have ridden a little off-road, but it has been a while.

MeefZah, thanks for the invite. I would go in a heart beat if I didn't have to work, but this is one of those weekends that I have something going on. Next time for sure.

Just don't show up with worn out tires, you'll be miserable, especially if it rains

If I show up with sharp new tires, you can bet that Christmas just passed! I usually don't change 'em until the flat spot will hold the bike up by itself.

Thanks,

The tires are pretty much new, I only have a couple of hours on the bike. They are the DOT Metzlers. Whatever they are I do not like them, MCE or somethings. Probably trade the take offs for some beer if someone wants them.

I plan to put Michelin S12s on it.

Great tire in the dirt and loamy stuff but they suck on the road. At least that's my experience with the 950se.

Yeah, probably scary on the road.....I have some really cool scars from full dirt knobbies on a dualsport bike............. Everything was going along just fine until I ran out of talent.

I'll put the S12s on a 99% off-road bike. The only tarmac I plan to do is linking a few trails.

Hey, a few of us are meeting in Danville at 9:00 am on Sunday for a gravel ride; if you want to come I can swing through Sparta on my way and retrieve you.
What kind of gravel ride? Township Roads or worse?

Simple, it becomes a last bike standing competition.
