so, the esteemed master of all things XR, inmate ValveCrusher kindly took time out of his day to inform me that I didn't really need to remove the flywheel in order to separate the cases. As long as I don't want/need to remove the crankshaft (I don't) then the flywheel can stay.

so I looked everything over carefully, decided he was probably right and went ahead the did the deed.

so far so good. I've got Dora tore down to (almost) the last bolt and nut.

got all the shrapnel of the bad piston out.

found a bearing that needs replacing, so, as soon as I can source that, I'll begin reassembly.

wish me luck...I'm gonna need it. maybe I'll haul the whole mess over to the Perry County Garage Day party and see if anyone there can make sense of it

btw...as I type this, I'm enjoying a bottle of Pottsville, Pennsylvania's claim to fame: Yuengling Traditional Lager. It finally made it across the border, after all these years. If yer a beer lover, go get ya some.

They've been advertising it pretty heavily on billboards and such for the last month; it even was on the local news - NBC4 - a few days ago.

I never understood why it wasn't "imported" into Ohio... some obscure law?

No law, they have just been slowly expanding their market as they have been able to expand production. It's a family owned business and was almost in the tank at not all that long ago. They have had great growth and good market penetration on the east coast and in Florida. It is America's second largest family owned brewery, second to Sam Adams.

If you listen to Podcasts, here is a link to a good Freakanonics Podcast about the difficulties of transitioning a family business from one generation to another. The Podcast talks about Yuenglings, Anheuser Busch, and the adoption rate in Japan. It's free.

Walked into the store last night to get some odds and ends, they had a huge display of Yuengling set up at the entrance. In the beer section, they were adding Yuengling to the cooler.

The Black and Tan is not bad, personally, I find the lager a bit sweet tasting. Not bad, but not what does it for my taste buds....Of course I won't turn down a free Yuegnling (hint)...there are lots of other "free" beers I would turn down tho May have to pick up some for the weekend....though for what ever reason, the Great Lakes Burning River Pale Ale is REALLY tasting good this fall

Keeping the power on is commitment! I will check today to see if any of the pictures turned out, since every time I looked at the camera lens, it was fogged up :)

Don't forget about February 18th George!

Ride Anyone?

I don't know if anyone has had luck getting people to ride here or not but here goes... The weather is too perfect and I have to work this weekend. However, I am looking at doing a Thursday and Friday ride to be back in Cincinnati on Saturday. Any interest? I like to camp.

Well, he did almost face plant into a camper shortly after that because he was entertaining some kids in the back of a car.

Of course it's Mark. It's also him jumping over the rock. No one ever said Mark can't ride.
