Deer whistles do NOT work. All they do is separate you from a couple bucks. Rock music, however, does seem to annoy them. In the last 3 years I've put about 30,000 miles on my Magna, with 80% of them coming after I installed the sound system. I've seen dozens of deer in all those miles and they always bolt for the woods when they see me coming...the closest I've ever come to hitting one is about 15-20 feet.

Just scared the crap out of myself

My two track vehicle was ready to be picked up a day early... and I decided that I would ride my bicycle to go get it.

The tires were flat... and I was pumping the back one up to 80 psi... it blew off the rim.... scared the bejezus out of me.

I really should ride that thing more often.

No deer were harmed in the exploding tire scenario.

PS - What rock bands do deer find most offensive?

Same here. I gave up on hunting a few years ago because I lost my spot to development and I didn't want to hunt in the state parks. I'll gladly take yearling does with my ego intact.

I think that story is the same for a lot of Ohians.

Glad I'm not the only one that happens too! Luckily it happened there and not on the road

Got a neat toy the other day, thought I'd share for any of you guys that are interested in camping gear. I love Deal Extreme and buy trinkets from there all the time, always a gamble but the last time I was on there I noticed they carry a boatload of camping stoves, and the prices are great.

I wanted a micro-sized one for the bike, just for the occasional use and found this one...

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/outdoor...se-2-ag3-46371

For under $8 shipped, it's the fucking bomb. Works absolutely flawlessly, and is tiny. Comes in a little case, uses std. liquid petro cans. It takes a while to boil, about 10 minutes in the garage the other day...but that's fine for a tiny stove. Needs a wind screen at times, obviously, but I've always improvised these on site. The igniter works great, burns even and is built really well with the exception of the o-ring, which was kind of shitty but a trip to ace hardware and $.10 later, fixed.

Also, I've mentioned before that Go Athletic is an awesome US company that makes base-layers (under armor style), and has great prices. Well, right now they have their thermal and sub-zero base layers on sale and are an absolute steal. I mean it, they are waaaay nicer than Under Armor, warmer and 100% American made. I just ordered a second set. It's amazing how inexpensive they are considering how much the Vietnamese shit like Nike and North Face stuff sells for.

Meet up 10:30 Sunday at the gas Station off rt 56 and 180 in Laurelville. If you would post up if you plan to attend so I can know how many plan to come. If the weather turns back to crap that day, I'll reschedule the ride, but I'm trying to give folks a good advance notice so they can mow the yard now!
Bump for this weekend.

Anyone* interested in a Sun-Mon-Tue camping trip, destination / routes to be determined? Probably street only, maybe some gravel roads if I come accross them but not seeking out gravel or offroad. One last hurrah before Old Man Winter breaks out the Jameson's bottle to return the favor.

*Anyone refers to people I like, that list of people I like is very short and available by PM
