I'm also stuck working from 700a-8p Friday, so no riding for me (other than commuting). Saturday too. And congrats on quitting!

Because going down it's about 1000% better. I might at least enjoy half of it.

Well, I "think" I've narrowed my search down to one bike (since I can't afford what my inner child says I really want - a new KTM 350 EXC). Try as I might, I just can't justify spending damn near as much money on a glorified dirt bike as I did my Concours 14.
Essentially I want 4 basic things from a D/S bike:
Looking over what's available (and won't cost me a small fortune) it seems the KLX250S is going to be my best bet. Yes it's a little portly at 298-lbs dry, but I'm sure I can shave some of that excess weight off. It's also way down on power in stock trim, but a big-bore kit and pumper carb will resolve that issue. I considered the WR250R as well, but it would make things much more costly when it comes to modifying the engine due to the EFI. I don't want that hassle or added expense, not to mention it's more electronic crap to fail at the worst possible time. Now the fun part, finding the best deal I can on a clean used one without having to drive 4-6 hours or more each way to get it. |
