here's proof that they'll let anyone with $15 into the show:

Yea,I know that guy....we both own old Panther motorcycles.Spent some time with him at the Horizons Unlimited meeting a few years ago.

Boring in here this morning!

It was beautiful yesterday afternoon; sunny and 40, so George and I headed out to Plain City for some dirt/gravel miles. Just a few clicks out on the path and we were blasted with near white out conditions. Didn't think much of it till we crossed a paved road and found it slick as hell. We decided to turn back, thinking if it got much worse we may not easily make the 20 paved miles back home.

I was up there for all three days, got to see Up N Mtns & Sakeman. Rode the elevator at the Sheraton with RTWDoug and had a short chat. He seems like a really cool guy. Interesting crowd.

Ever just run into one of those guys who'd agree that the earth is flat for a sale?

Thanks for Sion letting me do this.

Doug Was Great - Only Presenter Not Hustling Himself

Doug has really covered some miles in the pursuit of the "ultimate biker party"! He is really good at sharing his relaxed style of two wheel travel, and I enjoyed his presentation.

In contrast, I tried to listen to the Yamaha guys presentation on riding techniques. Unfortunately, I lasted about ten minutes before I couldn't take it anymore. These guys spent almost every minute bragging on their credentials and the success of their riding school! It felt like I was on vacation trapped in one of those condominium sales seminars in order to get free tickets for something. It's true that the 3 guys are superstar riders, but how many times do you have to tell me why your school is the best, and that the other teaching schools teach WRONG? I felt rude leaving mid presentation, but I wouldn't have sat down if the seminar was properly labeled. To be fair, they finally started into some information of value, but it was too late for me.

Anyways, I don't typically whine, but the seminar was on riding techniques (I thought) not a pep rally for your riding school. Doug sold his spirit of adventure and awesome experiences, and I appreciate the fact that he wasn't hard selling anything under the auspice of world travel or riding techniques.

I expect that I may get a response from the Yamaha Alpha Team. Sorry guys, it's just one opinion from a guy that is very protective of my time. I'm sure most everybody loved it.

Sion,

I fixed the stains on your shirt, just in case you wanted to save the picture for future use without public ridicule.

Here ya go:

Cheers,

Most sales people are like that? I like messing with them...

Since I have a powerhouse honda STealership in my backyard, I go over every so often to talk to the "new" sales guy to see what they know or most likely don't know.

The owner now has his maybe 20 year old son working as a salesman.

It's good fun now and then...

Best one I ever ran into was at the store which used to be on Morse Road near IP. Went with Christy to look at the Honda 230 and this guy starts spilling BS all over the place. I could only hold back so long before I started asking where he was getting his info because it showed a total lack of experience. In the end he admitted he had never ridden a motorcycle. I was like And then we left.

along similar lines...2 of the 3 Honda reps I talked to at the IMS had no idea what the Cross Runner or Cross Tourer are. One guy knew that they are probably only going to be sold in Europe. He said, and I quote: "I doubt they'd sell very well here." To which I replied "Really? Then how come I see so many V-Stroms out on the road?" They tried to point me toward the new NC700 but I wasn't buying that its even remotely an adventure bike.
