Good bike, owned one for several years. Incredibly reliable little motor that makes great power down low, very little "issues" with that particular bike. Comfy stock seat, good suspension, easy to work on.

They are very bottled up stock, need the carb mods and a better pipe to wake up.

They don't have much freeway guts, but for cruising the backroads they're fine. In the woods tho, they're really great little tractors.

The real and only bitch with the TTR250 is that it's uncommon and finding some things for it, namely plastics, is about impossible. Most parts are still readily available, but aftermarket is limited. If you ride it like I did, you'll rip the rear fender off...and it's like hen's teeth to find a stock one). But, I wouldn't let that stop me from buying one and I may end up with another in the near future.

If you end up with one, there's a good thread on mods at Thumpertalk in the TTR forum. TTR250 has lots of info too.

If, and that's a BIG if, you had to do them they're not that bad from what I gather. I checked mine 4 times in 20,000 miles and they never budged. That's pretty typical, from talking to other owners. The check takes about 10 minutes.

I've also been tagging good roads between Massillon and Coshocton and Massillon and Central Ohio between Coshocton and Loudonville

That being said, I plan to start going back down as the days get longer and I can take half days during the week or on days I'm not going full off-road. I welcome company but be warned, I sometimes get into places most people won't take a dual sport.

I would definitely be game to tag along....looks like a good time.

I'd be down for that ride.

Weather & winter chilled my interest in it a bit, but during that time (and with the help of mgorman) I've gathered several maps, info sheets and ArcGIS shapefiles for Ohio roads and railroad beds, including some (but not enough) road surface info.

There is not enough gravel, and certainly not enough trail, to link it all together. But there is enough gravel and twisty two-lane to do so. Seems like it would be best to make it big-bike friendly.

Should it be something that would press forward, my idea would be to have several riders do a brain dump of the best roads in their home area and then chatter a bit about how to link it all together.

No Thanks - I've had enough fun for one day - at least the trooper was nice enough to mark the speed down a bit so I don't have to go to court. Still is going to require a $179 donation to Medina County though. I was having a really nice ride to work 'til that light bar popped into view.
