Like I said, we'll decide depending on when we get to the bucket. Some enduros may desire a route back thru Monday Creek. With the new over sized front tire and 1/2 clearance to the fender the Strom is now dedicated road only. Otherwise I'll ride the KLR and wear the last of the tires off.

Don't really need anything at the IP so I may just wait in ambush at the gas station along 33 a little south of Sugar Grove or at 33/180 interchange. My eyes aren't what they were a few years ago so I hope I don't chase down a group of pirates instead of you. As always let me know what bike you plan to ride. Hate to bring the GSA if you are planning any dirt or the 690 if you are planning all highway. Also don't think the butt can take another long ride on the KTMs this weekend so BMW would be my preference, if you care.

I'll also be working Saturday... but I am up for a big bike ride sometime in the distant future. Hell, I could even lead one. I'd even like to see some dirt... but only the easy dry hard-packed stuff, as I'm currently street-tired.
I'm out this weekend and next, and the 29th has the Cabin Fever Road Enduro... so maybe the 22nd? Try to get a little dirt in before the road enduro so I don't take first place in the 'best crash' category again.

Am I crazy, or wasn't there someplace on ODOT's website that showed road type? Gravel, paved, etc...

I'd love to know! I've also noticed my Garmin has an option for avoiding unpaved roads. Which means, in there database, they must know which roads are unpaved. There must be some way to tap into that knowledge.

I've been planning on doing a recon run and getting county maps for all of the enjoyable eastern counties in Ohio. The few I've already picked up don't differentiate, but I know Meef stated earlier that some counties do display which roads are 'unimproved' on their maps.

There is. If you have a decent map in Garmin BaseCamp, or have a unit that's compatible to share the map with BaseCamp when plugged in, you can do the following:

Under BaseCamp Options (Preferences on Mac), click Display, then "Hide Map Features", Under "Transportation" you can deselect highways. Crank up the detail so you can get a birds eye view of what unpaved roads there are. Create some routes for the roads, then turn the paved roads back on to create connecting routes.

This works best with a normal road map like City Navigator, as the roads tend to blend in with the shade lines on the 24k Topos and make it difficult to distinguish where there's a cluster of unpaved roads.

It isn't perfect, because they're database isn't. But it gives you a much better idea of dirt/gravel/paved country roads.
