EJV Motorcycle Superstore didn't have a dirt bike for sale, so I had to shop elsewhere

Things must not be so bad here in the south, we're up to four. For now.

Yet only one gets used.

Luke, what time you thinkings Saturday? The morning is kind of sucky for me but anytime probably after noon or so would be good. If you want to meet up along 33, my preference would be the Sunoco on the East bound lanes of 33 at Clearcreek Road. It is open again, on the right side of the road and hopefully I won't be mistaken for a sportbiker...

Alright. I watched the YouTube video. Seems quite straight forward. Looks like I need to buy the seal driver ($25) and the fluid level tool ($20). Doesn't look like there is any need to get the damping rod tool.
Then I need to get the seal kit and fluid... And I should probably get a dang service manual.

Anything you experts would add?

You'll need a hex for bottom of the fork, too. I've got the fork fluid tool and the manual (paper and digital)

I pay other people to do this shit for me.

Local shop just did my V-Strom, which was spooing goo all over the LF brake rotor. Both sides, parts and labor, $140.

My time and sanity are valuable commodities, and I rent my house, so throwing wrenches through walls in fits of rage is no longer acceptable.

You can make a driver out of PVC pretty easy, you're not applying much force with one at all, so it's not a crucial component....although a good driver works just fine. You don't mash them at all, just push them till they stop moving.

Soak the seals in some fork fluid overnight before install and they go on a little smoother.

I bought a big cow-syringe from TSC and used some tubing on it to add/remove fluid to level them out, after finding out that if you pour a little too much in it's hard to micro-adjust. Has a lot of other uses around the shop too, handy.

Don't know if the video goes over cleaning all the parts, but I found it easy to use a big disposable cake pan filled with kerosene to clean stuff, and pour through the tubes and valves. Cuts the old oil lickety split.

Oh, and obviously do one fork at a time so if you fuck up you have a complete one to refer to for re-assembly.

Yep, we were just discussing his current rear tire and fuel capacity for the ride up.

I just called Sion and he should be pulling in now. ;) Give me a call when you guys decide what you are doing. I'm running late again. Got my Zumo 665 and had to install the cradle and mess with it of course.
