I finally found a pic of one of my bikes dirty!

I had to look through about 700 photos to find one, but there ya go!

Yeah, it was on a trip and it scrubbed clean the day I got back, but it is dirty.

Bi.

Whole bunch of 'em. Headed south on Route 104 out of Chillicothe. Most were maintaining single file, but a few of them would stay doubled up even when traffic was stacking up behind them.

Not sure what the etiquette / law says about that but it was kinda annoying.

Etiquette would be go to single file to make it easier for cars to pass. Reality is if you go to single file people try to squeeze by you with oncoming traffic instead of waiting for a gap like they are forced to do when you are doubled up. If it's motorcycles overtaking me, I always get as far right as possible. For cars/trucks, I'll take up enough of the lane so they won't try it with oncoming traffic. Of course, I stick to the hardly used roads to nowhere as much as possible and most of my road rides will only involve getting passed by a a handful of cars in a day. I wouldn't even consider a ride on a late sunday morning on a state route.

Depends, last I saw, if it's not safe to pass, bicyclists should take the lane. Other than that, they should be courteous and let traffic by.
Most are good riders, some have a chip on their shoulder.

This bicyclist detests roadies that litter up the road in packs, especially riding abreast (which is legal IIRC, but ridiculously contradictory as the ORC requires bikes to stay to right "as much as safely possible"...explain that). They had a rolling clusterfuck going through Utica this morning...rolling right through 4-way stops en masse.

I seldom ride on the road, and when I do I hug the fucking ditch and stay out of the way of traffic. Not many cyclists share my viewpoint or ride like that, but I consider myself a guest on the road not entitled to it (I pay no registration or fees for a bike, I never considered myself on equal footing legally or ethically with a car, which most roads are designed for)...I know I'm going to lose the fight against a 6,000lb SUV in a contest of wills also...you can be legally right, and still get creamed. A lot of cyclists get a little chip on their shoulder about cars getting around them or take up the lane for safety reasons, but my conscience bothers me....feels like standing in the grocery isle blocking it just because.

I know the road guys get their shorts in a knot about riding on the berm because of the debris - but I've never gotten a flat from doing it. Apparently they buy shitty tires.

Anywho, I'm the wrong guy to ask. Somewhat of a snob I think.

This bicyclist prefers to go into cardiac arrest at the side of the road and preferably in a shaded section.

Bicyclists on three lock rd. I have no problem sharing the road, but they need to learn to do the same. Riding two abreast is bad enough but until they heard me down shifting right behind them they were three abreast on a double yellow rd.

well, despite having worked midnight shift last night, I was able to get my sorry ass up by 230 or so and was on the road by 4...did about 140 miles or so, snagging covered bridge pics.

I'll bet alan recognizes this one:

what a beautiful day for a ride. wish I could have joined one of the group rides, but I had to get some sleep or I'd have been a danger to myself and everyone else.

btw, is it just me, or do others feel the same: if you go out for a ride and dont log at least 100 miles, it doesnt feel like you did a real ride?

Also, where is the best picture of the day?

No that hill he was talking about was crazy. Loose rocks and a big rut. No room for a run at it. Mark stayed out of the rut for awhile but still ended up in it about 1/2 way to the top. I started out in it and found out that was not a good idea. Probley took 5 years off my clutch. I think with a better tire I would have been ok. Good times. Thanks again Mark it was great ride today.

Oops ... not OH-104. I'm never gonna earn my 'Ride Leader' merit badge.

Looks like Fallsburg. We were on 586 north of there a couple times today. Did you get your other bike fixed?
