I'll be poor as shit, but I figure I'll take about 6 months and leave the household to Meredith to run, and just ride around the US, Canada, and Mexico.

I've actually kind of been hoping they lay me off, I'll never get to do it otherwise.
Don't forget the 6 weeks before the first check, weekly proof you are looking for another job and the fact it's only 1/5 of what you make now. I've been off unemployment for three years now and living off savings and part time jobs. I am lucky that I never got into debt and have always live debt free. Makes living a lot less expensive.

I'm hoping John and Becky have a press we can use. It's that or I get people over here and try to use the tractor.

I have a chance to retire on July 29th, I'm tempted to see how long I can stand it before I go stir crazy.

Most parts stores have a loan a tool program and you can try a ball joint press or something similiar. Spray it with liquid nitrogen to shrink it first, you're the chemist arent you? lol Let me know if you need a hand this week.

Liquid nitrogen is hard to get and harder to control. Don't wanna crack the frame or engine case. John is likely to have the best bet as a professional mechanic with a machine style shop. He's just a busy man.

Yeah, keep in mind I parted one out. So I've taken one apart down to nuts and bolts before.

I know when I hold canned air upside down it blows cold as hell. That and putting catsup on fries is as far as I know about chemistry.

In that case beware baking soda and vinegar. Now get me some hydrofluoric acid and I'd be all set.

You learn that at Hare Scramble School.

Course 102a - Never wait - on anybody.

The first 3 weeks - do it all - anytime of day. Let the good times roll.

If you got warm weather coming, that's a plus. But that's just a temporary delay until firewood, short days and ice storms.
After you've trimmed every shrub on your (and your neighbor's) property, you can start aligning limestone in the driveway.
Make friends with the mailman and the meter readers. Remember the petty politics/BS about your past job - it's the easiest thing to forget.
And, of course, I'm a man - I can have sex anytime she wants to!

It goes something like this: wake up (early, it just happens). Pour a cup of coffee and then some. A little radio, Weather Channel and then some real decent looking babes on the cable news networks. (non-partisanship here). Back to the Weather channel in case anything changed. Get dressed, walk the dog. Go out and buy a paper. Root around the house for a little while and check ADV. Kick around, eat some cereal. Back to the news babes - check the clock - it's now 7:45 am.

Now WTF am I going to do till dark?

Be wary of friends, family and neighbors that will think you are now available full time for whatever they need - including your truck, trailer and your gas.

Trust me, the grass is always on the other side of the fence.

On the other hand, if you have the option - which many do not and may never - go for it.

Hey - let's get together sometime before it gets hot and throw some dirt down in Hocking County. I need someone to follow.
