If I had it to do over, I'd have gotten a WR250R, which is pretty much the best, lightest DS bike out there right now.

good luck
I was looking at orange bikes today. The men in blue would be very disappointed in me...

I have no plans on getting rid of my WR anytime soon though.

CCM talked me into waiting for the 2013 models coming out...

I had a wr250f for a few months, decided it was lacking in the power department for what I wanted and sold it. Went back to riding my KTM 250sx for a few weeks, decided that I really liked everything about the WR except for the power and just went and traded in the KTM on a '12 wr450. Freaking bike is amazing. If they upgrade the 250 like they did the 450, it should be worth the wait. The new forks are straight off the the motocross bikes with a lot of work done to make them good in the woods. Just got back from a 30 mile woods loop and couldn't be happier. My big gripe with the KTM was with how the front would deflect off of odd angled roots or trail garbage. The WR tracks straight through pretty much anything and really soaks up the terrain well without being mushy.

Now that Luke has the KLR running, we should be ready for another Tar Hollow ride in the next few weeks. I don't remember the name of the road (Luke: it was the one they logged with the mile long mud soup in the creek bed) - but I just got reunited with quite a nice bit of two track trail over there. It crosses the ridge and ends up over to Narrows Rd. on the other side. Couple of spots would be slow going for the big bikes, but I think it's all doable if it's dry.

It wasn't hard they were out of just about everything. I was looking for a 350 XCF‑W. They told me they would have some new bikes in 6~8 weeks...

I'll probably buy used if I do get a KTM anyway... ;)

Started right up after sitting a month and didn't bottom on a couple of ditches I hit, woo hoo. Now just need to drop the front sprocket a tooth or two (prior owner went up one) and get the skid plate installed and will be ready for Tar Hollow!!! How 'bout it Luke, when is the circus rolling into town!!

I'm just back from a quick trip up to Boston, I had a nice 4 mile walk in Cambridge, and over in the Backbay around Fenway yesterday afternoon, and another 4 this morning down to Beacon Hill and around the commons.

Lots of motorcycles parked on street, and HD's were not the majority. It was not uncommon to see 4 or 5 motorcycles parked, and none of them be HD's.

Hang on. To be "legal" you need a lot more than that, which we've been through before.

To fly under the radar, yeah, a quiet bike with headlight, taillight, and plate, will do the trick; but if you cross paths with the wrong cop at the wrong time it won't pass muster.

I'm tied up with graduation stuff Saturday and Sunday myself but Monday could work if I get home early enough tomorrow to get the rest of the wrenching done and a little shake out ride in! Hate to just jump on it and go but I guess I have done worse stuff in my life...

Well, give me a call if you can make it. I took the KLR out for a 20 ,mile spin. Seemed to be fine. I also installed new rear break pads. I'll check a few more things but prett much consider the bike good to go.
