I'm not suggesting that any of you need this information...but there are probably a few of you who are as carb ignorant as I am, and thus may benefit from it:

It was probably converted to non-motorized a while back. Lots of that going on out west lately. The only legal single track is located up north by the Silverjack Reservoir, off of Owl Creek Pass. We rode the Alpine Trail that takes you from there and drops you off north of Lake City. That's one mother of a trail. There are 100 switchbacks, and they are all pivot-wheelie tight. Feels like you completed the Erzberg when you finally get to the road. Then it's just a nice relaxing ride back to Ouray on Engineer Pass.

There is some single track down toward Durango too, but we never made it that far south.

Thats not true. There is more legal single track than the Alpine Trail. Just have to look at the MVUM maps as they are the legal document for whats motorized and whats not. There is some single track south of Wager Gulch past Carson City and then there is a section of Lagarita Stock Trail Driveway and Miners Creek between Lake City and Creede. The sign at Spring Creek pass shows its not open to motorcycles, but the latest MVUM shows it is. The sign means little if the map shows its legal since its the legal document.

I contacted the Gunnison district about the sign being wrong and they agreed it is shown as legal to ride on the map and the sign may be wrong, but also said it may take them up to 7 years to get the sign corrected. Seems ridiculous to me that it would take 7 years, but what do you expect from a governmental agency?

Didn't know that. I even check in the Colorado threads every now and then here on ADVrider and nobody mentions those trails that you did. One thing I found out about the trails out West: everyone tries to keep the "good stuff" secret so it doesn't get "discovered" by the tree huggers and squids. Kind of crazy, considering they are public use trails. I had to dig pretty deep to find the hidden gems in California. Once I did, I was taking the Cali locals for rides on trails they didn't know existed

Cv carbs work on black magic. No, don't try to explain about diaphragms, they're evil. Ok, not really, but wait till you see the siamesed variable venturi mess thats on an 85 gs550es. Once you figure one out the rest is cake.

That article is for keihins popular cvk. It and the mikuni BST series are pretty close to being the same carb.

I did some pretty extensive research before we headed to Colorado to find out what was in the area. The biggest problem I ran into when searching was the Forest service called all the roads and trails by numbers and the locals all called the trails by names. Once I figured out how to put the number with the name there was quite a bit of single track in the area. I would say one day we did around 30 miles, and the day my bike broke we would have probably done 45 miles to complete the route. We didn't make it up to the Alpine Trail, although it was on my list.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It takes a lot of GoggleFu to match the USFS numbers with the trail names

Chip and I have played with those. I enjoy having two sets of jets in one body with mismatched sizes.

Mine had DJ kits in it. IIRC the inner cylinders had smaller jets than the outers. Do you still have her? I have parts galore still. Spare carb racks, engine, CDI, etc. I was hoping one day that I could drop the spare engine into a buggy or golfcart.

Heres as she sits now, a friend bought it. He ended up dropping her the first week, along with breaking the chain...twice, and a speeding ticket. I see the windscreen is missing now, never did find a replacement for the cracked one she had. Put a ton of work in her. Got some more pics if your interested or anyone else is.

That guy who posted his deer strike video here a couple weeks ago at a WV rally race now has 300,000+ views on youtube. Happened to see it linked on another forum. Certain posters here now have a new youtube view-count number to aspire to. -mike

Saw it posted on several gun forums, so it's viral for sure.

I saw it on Heaven666.....not for the faint of heart. They are normally pretty brutal, but they thought he was a total badass for jumping back on the bike & taking off. I have to admit that was damn impressive.

WFO to on the ground to WFO in less that 10 seconds!

Oh and BTW never go there on Tuesdays.....NEVER.

I was only trying to catch up to you on views and subscribers. I have never said anything otherwise but it is true that people love to watch the misfortune of others.,.
