With the dimensions and a spring company employee willing to do the legwork, I'm sure there is something that will interchange. That doesn't fix the lack of thread length for the adjusting collars tho. Not for nothing, but that whole shock just looks kinda like something you would find on a China off brand bike.
Thailand and China ain't that far apart!

I'm going to contact some of the companies that revalve the CRF230F shock. That shock is billed as 'sealed' but there are two companies that have figured out how to do it.

Not personally but I recall hearing stories from an old guy about having custom springs made for his dirt car for $15 each by a local company years ago. He was laughing that his competitors were paying $300 back then and he wasnt. You may be surprised if you start calling around. You could always use your Honda status and claim it is for a R&D project.

Revalving or full upgrade replacement is the long term goal, but that may have to wait until spring.

Ideas?
Biggest thing you need is the O.D., the I.D., and the overall length of the stock spring. Call any aftermarket suspension wizard with that information, bikes weight and your weight and they should (should) be able to find something that will work. You may have to send them the stock spring so they can measure the rate to gauge what the starting point was.

Now that you mention it, there is someone local to us that does/used to wrap springs, but I'll be damned if I remember who it was. I had a set of fox body ford springs that had been made by them.

Awesome!

I'll spread the word down south!

If you want to get inside it looks like all you need to do is take a punch and tap the bottom cap off. It looks like a press fit just like the "sealed" shock on the KLR. I just rebuilt one. Call if you want.

Yeppers, you might get lucky and find a spring that fits. Otherwise, you will need to make some spacers or coller adapters. What's the inner diameter and length? Any idea what the stock spring rate is? I might be able to help find one for you.

Sasquatch and Cogent Dynamics (both inmates here) should be able to revalve it for you, if you don't mind sending it out. They can probably source a spring as well.

I guess what I meant was, now it's taken apart and you don't have something to put back in it's place, so your brand new bike can't be ridden.

Although it is pretty crappy weather so maybe this is the start of "winter project" time, I just don't want to admit that.
