I think you have smoked too many left handers.

My thought is they sold yours for dbl the money right now and will produce yours in May.

I don't own ANY guns! No, not me! You feds go somewhere else!
My Battalion Executive Officer says to me, "You have an AR-15, right?" I reply, "No, Sir. I lost all my guns in a horrible boating accident."

The look of confusion on his face was priceless.

You wear gear when you ride, right?

Have a fire extinguisher or smoke alarms?

Eat right and exercise?

Bet you do all of those things, and not because you're scared of a fire or a heart attack, but because you're smart and you know that bad things can and do find us even if they're rare. And you probably know the pains of preparation are much less than the ramifications of being caught with your pants down when you're faced with a dire emergency.

Same here, my friend. I just have a bigger set of tools I drag around but they cause me no fear. Quite the opposite in fact.

I don't want to assist them in that process, should it ever come to pass.

Put me right in that zealous camp.

Yeah, people can say cars are registered and other items - but they escape that political/emotional scrutiny, and they are also not named specifically in the bill of rights as something that shouldn't be infringed upon.

/soap box.
I don't want to put this in thread lock land, but I see a lot of people who are too close to the project and only look at a gun registry from a very one sided perspective - that of the "victim" gun owner always being hounded by big brother.

It would be logistically impossible to confiscate every gun in America if the government were so inclined to do that once guns were registered. Not only would it be logistically impossible, it would be an order that most cops / feds / military would refuse to carry out. I sure as shit won't be knocking on your door to take your guns. That would be Waco x a million, acted out in stages all over the country.

A registry of all newly sold guns would be a useful tool for law enforcement and gun owners. Eventually, by attrittion, you would have most guns listed on it. And yeah, Craig, I'm going to use the "cars get registered" analogy. Why? Cars get stolen. Cars get crashed and abandoned. Cars get impounded. Cars get used in crimes. You know what happens then? We call the fucking owners and do some investigative shit, and voila: cars get returned to their owners, cases get closed, shit gets done. This is possible because, when a surveillance tape captures a red car fleeing the scene of a robbery, I can hopefully get a plate off it... which leads to an owner... who can help me with the investigation into who was operating and occupying said car at the time of the robbery. You know what's not possible? Interviewing the owner of every red car ever sold in the US. A car gets stolen, and the owner doesn't have the serial number (VIN) written down anywhere? No problem, because the car is registered, I can run it through, find the info, and enter it as a stolen. Stupid owners who don't note important numbers will still get their car back, because the car was registered.

Same with guns. You have no idea how many recovered guns are languishing in my evidence room right now, and with no way to prove ownership they will rust away in there well after my retirement. The guys caught toting those guns no doubt stole them or are a party to their theft, but there's no way to prove that since there is no owner to contact. You have no idea how many times a gun has been used in a crime and is left behind, and what seems like a great piece of evidence is actually worthless because the serial number isn't linked to an owner. You have no idea how many times some knucklehead has reported a gun stolen, and can't even tell me what kind of gun it is. These mouth breathers are letting guns escape to the streets because they are too stupid to lock them up, and write down an 8 digit number. If guns were registered, when I stop Cletus the Crackhead, and I run the number on the gun he's packing, BAM, up pops the registered owner. One gun returned, one Cletus locked up.

I'm pro gun, mostly. But it is very frustrating to see an easy answer to a problem, and then have a bunch of guys who can't even understand that there is a problem telling you that registering guns is step one in the man's master plan to turn us all into human batteries like in The Matrix.
