A detailed article on the Outlier can be found here: http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/Portals/1...r/Winter91.pdf

One of my other hobbies is fossil collecting.
By your map I'm right on the edge of the Pennsylvanian and Ordovician geologic formations. Well, you've seen the topography of my area.

mini trip report

as some of you know, I spent the weekend in Tellico Plains, TN attending a SabMag event known as the Spring Shakedown. Despite mother natures attempt to spoil things with cold temps friday and saturday, it turned out to be a great weekend, both riding and weather wise. I didnt take a ton of pictures but I'll share the few that I did.

the owner of the campground (Hunt's Lodge) has a dirtbike with an comfy seat :

its no stretch to suggest that the seat is worth more than the bike

visited this place, which is not a water park as I originally thought, but rather an interesting cavern system with the largest underwater lake in the USA:

formerly known as Craighead Cave:

if you take the tour, you'll see all kinds of neat geologic formations. I tried to take some photos of the cool stuff, but my camera doesnt have a strong enough flash and most of em turned out like this:

I did get a couple decent shots. Here's a dormant stalagmite called the Bear's Paw...coz I guess it kinda looks like one...all shiny due to the thousands of people who've rubbed it for luck:

and I dont remember what this is supposed to be, but it looks cool

the highlight of the tour is the boat ride on the underground lake. again I tried but failed to get any decent pictures. here's a picture I found on google of what it looks like:

they light up the water and its both eerie and peaceful at the same time. cool stuff.

I was also able to snag a couple covered bridges while I was there:

the Telliquah bridge at the start of the Cherohala Skyway:

a private drivway bridge in Sunbright, TN:

these folks also have a small pedestrian bridge on their land:

and finally, I spotted an interesting road name, so I snapped a pic for the juvenile pervs among us (which is most of us, lets be honest ):

and thats about all I got for ya. highlight of the trip was the Ultimate Twisties Loop that I've already mentioned. If you find yourself down that way, run that loop...or at least ride NC28 from Franklin to Deal's Gap. Its a great road and it has every kind of curve you could possibly want.

The water from the Tuscarawas from farther from Massillon to the Miami than it does to the gulf over 1,000 miles away from Cinci

What?

The water drops more, is that what you are trying to say?

Oops, I was try to explain the Connor's theory of water running up hill. So let me add a few missing words...

The water from the Tuscarawas River drops more from Massillon to the Miami (via Muskingum& Ohio) than it does to the gulf which is another 1,000+ miles away from Cinci. The river bottom here is approximately 970
