How many years and KlR's did it take for you to make up your mind? Your just not a very decisive person.

We do not have one currently, but I have a used one that you could take for a spin....The only caveat is that it has TKCs on it.

That's said I can probably do you one better.... I have a 2012 S10 in our EagleRider rental fleet. This time of year we'll cut you a deal on a day or weekend rental. You'll get a much better feel for the bike over a day or two than you would with a 20 mile test ride.

I am the person that put the first miles on our rental S10.....I can tell you it is an awesome machine.

thanks for the info man, I am only 2.5 hours from Columbus so a trip out isnt a big deal. Again I really appreciate the info. ANY seat time, even 20 miles is better than buying a bike completely blind.

Sure, I understand. The used one we have is really nice, but the TKCs are going to make it feel really different. You certainly get use to them and they are really sticky, but they do sort of have a disconnected feel to them when you are not use to them.

I put several thousand miles on TKC's on my DL, I know exactly what you mean. They hate tar snakes too.

I need to make a decision on a winter bike soon. Either order trackmasters for the klx and stud them, or something for my new-to-me v-stom, studded.

I'm leaning to the klx for obvious reasons, but the wind protection and added stator output of the strom is tempting.

Any thoughts? Tire recommendations for strom if I go that route? Automotive studs are at least 10mm long I believe, so I'd prefer a tire that will take them and last reasonably long. I'm not spending $200 for aerostich screw in studs or anything crazy like that.

Pick up a cheap bike and put a sidecar on it. Or make an off-road type sidecar.

I have that planned already for a Suzuki boulevard I traded for a month ago. On that note if anyone has either a sidecar or complete rig for sale or wanting to trade for something I'm ready to do some dealing.

Until then I'm 2 wheeling it. I was looking at tires for the strom, I think I'm just going to continue on with the klx plan. I'm not very excited about studding $350 worth of strom tires when I can get trackmasters for $100 and I know they work.
