Treat your throttle and brakes like a pair of b**bies! You go grabbing them hard and you're going to get slapped. You want to massage them nice and smooth. That way the bike will kiss you. Chris Carr

Well we got up and checked the weather:

I couldn't persuade Bacon to go back to bed, so we went into the village and got him and me a haircut.
It was still cold when we got back to the house..

...so I did some chores etc .... until at around midday it was +3.1C according to the outside thermometer....

Bacon was desperate to get on the road, so we had a little run-out up the coast, stopping first in Warkworth, beside the castle:

....carrying on North to Alnwick:

From Alnwick we turned inland, heading west ... and stopped up on the moors....

It was really chilly, so I cut back south to Newcastle to pick-up some stickers I'd ordered and then east back to the coast.
I figured Bacon better have a look at the North Sea before he moves on...

...after that we came back home to thaw out - It's only +0.9C now

The route looks like this:

Only around 90 miles and not the most exciting of rides, but surely Bacon's coldest..... so far....

We're going on the lash in Coalville (LEICS) tomorrow night, so one of us'll be arrested most likely...

Sooooo cold: Winter gloves and heated grips on full... thought the fuse had gone...... keeping down below 60mph to minimize wind-chill...two layers of thermals....

Lest I forget..

Me and Bacon are totally thawed out with a couple of buckets of Aussie Cabernet Sauvignon and the hottest pizza I ever made....

..But I'd like to than Sgt Mike for his hosting of Bacon and for the special present Bacon gave to me...

I might have to buy a new top-case to put that on....

Sent you some less worthy stickers back Mike.

So..... Sunday dawned much has Saturday had: "-4C" ...

Decided to take the car, which isn't exactly taking the soft option, as it's got a smaller engine than the GS, a grumbling drive-shaft or wheel bearing... but at least it stays the right way up on ice.... mostly...

We went south for about 200 miles of motorway/freeway to a village called Thringstone, to meet me mate ballistic ....

What else could we do on a cold, dark Sunday night, but go to the pub?

Pint of Black Sheep Bitter first .... and 2nd ...and 3rd..

Then some Everard's Tiger...

Some fish & chips....

...and relaxing by the fire with a few more pints...

Frost coated everything on Monday morning too, but this time it was only a degree below freezing.
After breakfast we headed south a further 30 miles to the National Exhibition Centre at Birmingham, for the bike show:

ballistic had pre-booked Bacon a ticket, so we got in as the doors opened

........ and who should we meet first but Nick Sanders, round the world R1, top-guy:

....and then, Bacon was ravaged by the MCN Babes

Poor thing

Next up we looked at some motorbikes..

This one's a bit shakey - We had to be quick

Bumped into Sam Manicom, who was there signing his latest book "Distant Suns" - he gets on ADV and knew all about Bacon ...and autographed a book for me...
Good guy .....

...and one last one...

.....and then we came 230 miles home...
