Bacon's first day out and about in Ireland

Bacon arrived late on Saturday morning from the Isle of Skye, so after a wee rest he headed out today for his first look at Ireland.

I had to into work on an errand so the porker came with me.

So I took him into one of the trucks for a look around.

He was a little small to attempt to drive one though.

My wife Mandylicious and I had to go to Portadown in County Armagh this afternoon, so we took Bacon for the drive. Here he is paying tribute to one of the best soccer players ever to come out if Ireland, George Best.

More to come in the next few days.

Glad to see Bacon traveling again.

I have to ask, why so many lights on the trucks?

It started out initially because there are a lot of unlit country roads here in Ireland, but has become a "fashion thing" all over Europe.

They are great though when a car driver doesn't dip his lights at night, just burn his feckin eyeballs out.

On the road again

I must apologise that nothing has been heard of Bacon this week. My best friend of 28 years lost his mother this week after a seven year battle with Altzheimers, so I have been somewhat preoccupied.

Anyway, Kyle from UKGSer had suggested a wee run out today to get to know his (new to him) 950S KTM, so Bacon and I set off in icy conditions this morning to meet up.

Seven riders turned up for the run, here are a few of them, Will, Kyle, David and Harry.

Our meeting place was the City Hall in the centre of Belfast.

It is a fine Victorian building,

Our original idea had been to ride the Antrim coast road up to the north coast, but David and Harry had tales of snow on the roads, so we chickened out and decided instead to ride south along the east coast.

This boat is an old light vessel which used to be stationed at Ireland's most northerly point, Malin Head but is now retired to Ballydorn.

We rode on to St John's Point near Coney Island which is featured in a Van Morrison song of the same name.

It was cold (3C) and windy with a big swell running on the sea.

After some tea in Newcastle, the group split up to head off for home Kyle and I took Bacon for a run through the Mourne Mountains to Spelga Dam.

Hopefully the weather will be a bit better next weekend as Bacon will be out for his last run in Ireland before he heads back to England as no other ADV Riders in Ireland have stepped forward to show him around.

Bacon goes back to school

Hello my name is Mandy and I'm married to Aidan1150. As you know we have been hosting Bacon so today I took him to work with me. I teach in the local College and thought this would be a good experience for Bacon. This is the first time I have written report and included pics so I hope you enjoy it.

Today I took Bacon back to school. He started with an early lesson in Childcare with a willing student. He's a quick leaner and was keen to move on to new experiences.

A quick transfer to reception saw him very promptly thrown in at the deep end. The morning flew by as he answered calls and worked at the computer.

Then it was time for a morning tea break. I took him into the canteen and the ladies provided him with scones and Danish pastries.

I wondered why the staff wouldn't take any money but this was soon to become clear. It wasn't long before I saw how they were planning on making him pay

They were cooking the sausages and poor Bacon was about to join his unfortunate buddies. Thankfully I got there in time and got him to hell out of there.

I think he enjoyed his day out

Good job, Madylious For the first report you did a mighty fine job and Bacon was a lucky porker that you rescued him from the ladies who were thinking of making him into the next meal.
