How's the weather?

From the look of the clouds, it appears that the weather is changing. Have you run into the big storm that is making it's way across the country? Rain, snow, sleet everywhere except for Georgia (where you guys need it! )

Ride on!

There was rain in Palmdale and Lancaster all day Friday, and in LA proper Friday evening, but not at all stormy, and today it looks beautiful, but cool, high is supposed to be in the fifties :)

I think the storm you mention is the one we ran through in Texas and eastern New Mexico; a lot of snow.

Addendum: very windy on the beach here, wow

We've lined up an officiant, looks like we'll be partaking in a major event either this evening or tomorrow evening... anyone want to witness?

Yeah Dallas drivers were rated in the top five worst cities in the states. If you're coming back the same(ish) route. Amarillo south on Hwy287 to Hwy380 to Denton has better views and you can make up at least an hour as well as miss OKCity.

Cheers

Great report and sounds you and your lady love freezing yourself goodly. ;-). I just did a round trip from Louisiana to Hollister, CA last June with Sequoia and Yosemite included in it. I have a one in the top 5 places in the USA that I want to go back to now. Yosemite, not Sequoia. I preferred the Highway of the Giants really.

Thanks for sharing and hang in there

I think we will do this tomorrow; we tied the knot this afternoon and are now officially Mr and Mrs AdvRydr took a 'honeymoon cruise' around the Hollywood Hills, and had a dinner and drinks at Chez Jay's in Santa Monica to celebrate.

New post on the way...

Friday, we spent some quality time, in the rain, shuttling between Palmdale, CA and Lancaster, CA, getting our paperwork in order:

We're staying at a nice beachside hotel in Santa Monica. This hotel has serious atmosphere, history, and lovely flora...

...we don't get 'Jade trees' like this at home:

The beach today was beautiful, although windy and a bit chilly:

Then... we took part in something big today, a commitment we expect to last for the rest of our lives...

...yes, after several years of looking for eachother, and several months of anticipation once we had found eachother, we are now Mr and Mrs AdvRydr

Afterwards, we took a cruise through the Hollywood Hills:

We saw where the stars leave their imprint upon the world:

We saw traces of the rich and famous:

We spent the evening at Chez Jay's, and were entertained by the owner, Jay Fiondella, who was once honored as Man of the Month in Cosmopolitan magazine , and whose restaurant includes a secret, secured room in the back often used for secret dates of Hollywood celebrities.

After more local touristing and tomfoolery through the weekend, we will begin our return journey to the east coast Monday morning!

Hoping for a speedy recovery for you... I love my1150GS when it is in motion, and it is fantastic on these long, extended runs, but I do sometimes struggle with its size and weight at slow speeds on sand, loose pebbles/gravel, steep slopes, when backing it up, etc, so I can understand your wife's concerns... getting comfortable on the big GS will be a learning process for me for some time to come, and in the meantime, my 'chicken muscles' (shoulders and shoulder-blade regions) get disproportionately sore, especially after rides involving a lot of slow-speed or unstable-terrain riding Always learning...

My hubby , on the other hand, is really at ease and skilled on his 1200GS, as I realize particularly when I ride pillion with him and experience how he maneuvers in small spaces and at very slow speed. Like anything worthwhile, I suppose it takes time and practice, and his skill comes as a result of a lot of both.

Thanks we took an indirect route west as we were doing a lot of sightseeing along the way; as we head back east, we will be taking a more direct route, probably including that Oklahoma City bypass.
