Talking

Hey CJ,

My cover arrived today and to say I'm happy would be a huge understatement. As sexy as it is to look at I can't wait to get it on the bike and use it.

Once again it has been a pleasure to deal with you. I'll let you know how it holds up to the punishment it's about to cop.

Thanks Matt

Thanks for letting me know they made it to you guys safe.

Place bike on SIDE stand, you should only loose a few drops of oil.

When you go to install make sure your brake lever is not already bent in, look down from above, it should be straight. These are a tad thicker than your stock cover to allow for the Rekluse, if equipped. My brake lever was bent in far enough it rubbed my stock cover when the bike was new. Pulled it out to clear and have had no issues since.

Otherwise, to install I just pull the the clip on the brake adjuster, pull the pin out. Pull the brake lever down and put the pin back in so the lever is above the pin. Got that????

Loosen bolts and install cover. Repeat everything backwards. 10 min tops.

Potential Warnings!!!!

During normal use in warmer weather you should see no sludge build up (yellow-brownish slime). All motors form a bit of condensation inside of them. When warmed up this should get burned off and be removed from the engine. Now that you have a see through cover and can see this condensation. In cooler climates you may see this condensation. Don't think that your water pump is shot immediately.
I find that in temps cooler than 50F it may take up to 30 min or more at full motor temps for this to go away. The shorter the trips, more condensation can be built up, taking longer to get rid of on the next ride.

So if you see slime:
1) Think- Have you lost coolant lately? Is there any coolant in the Reservoir Bottle? If not- Pull your fairing and make sure there is some in the Radiator. Running low is BAD!!!

2) Make sure your motor is up to full temp and has been run for 30+ min. A quick run 5 min run to the store or work won't be enough.

3) If after you have run it for 30-40 min and you still see sludge, than pull your oil filter. If you are running a Paper filter, than you may see some waves in the pleats. They should be straight. If they are not straight, than it's water pump rebuild time IMHO. If they are straight and your not loosing coolant, it's most likely condensation built up.

If you are running a Stainless filter, you're on your own. You make the call if you want to replace the water pump of not. Think about #1) That's why I run paper filters.

I hope this helps to take some worry away and help understand what's going on in your motor.

Safe travels,
CJ

Starting a list for the next batch. Anyone interested, best get your name on early, as first come first serve. I'm not sure how many the next batch will be as material cost have gone up a bit. It's looking like it will be about 3 months out yet for the next run.

When I finalize cost, I'll post prices. All I need if interested is a color option you prefer so I can get a count, even that can be changed up to the point they get sent out. Before they get sent out for anodize I need payment.

Rekluse package combos available also.

Everyone that took part in this first run has received there covers and clutch combo kits.

As these start seeing some use I hope to read some replies on how they are taking your abuse.

Thanks again,
CJ
