snow.... shmow... yeah i know easy for me to say, i am in alabama.. down side is i dont have crap for areas to ride around here. although it is 72 degrees today... i will be in CO soon.
robbie ... i asume that is the TT bash plate you have under there. here are a few things i am tossing around for my bike.. first.. i need an electrical outlet for my GPS.. anyone know if i can get one from the dealer that is plug-n-play or does it need to be hard-wired in? second ... foam airfilter... anyone made this switch yet? third... maybe some frame sliders... not sure about that one yet anyone else have any good ideas that they are considering or have tried lately?

The bash plate on my bike is the aluminum one from an X-Challenge. I bought it from another ADVer who put a TT one on his challenge. Those "challenge" guys are giving them away because the don't think there is a market for them. I bought a foam air filter from BMWAtlanta (ADV inmate) and installed it last week. I also left the cover off the airbox. I havn't riden it yet, but will give a seat of the pants dyno report soon. It's hard to see in the photos, but I installed Cycra Probends on the stock bars. It's easy to do, just re-tap the threaded bar end dohickies for the cycra mounting bolt. No need to change bars at all. I have also ordered some Pirelli MT-60's (damn 19" front wheel) Anybody used them? Any good? I had Michelin Siracs on my DRZ and loved them.

I just casually mentioned in the "threadfest" that if any X-Challenge owners had one after replacing their stock bash plate with an aftermarket one, please pm me.
I bought it later that day. Those Challenge riders ain't that smart.

so i got my gps mounted on my bike. (waited 2 weeks for a mount that didnt fit anyway) took tha mount apart and made a trip to home depot to get it to work.
pics to follow later i did not get the aux electric socket option with my bike.... does anyone know if it is already wired for a cigarette lighter style electric socket? i know there is a wire conection under my seat that i am hoping this is for. maybe even a part number for the correct aux plug. the BMW dealer told me to bring my bike in to see what one fit.. (2 hours away)

Glad I finally found this thread, I'm about to pull the trigger on a X-Country, and need a couple of bits of advice.
1- The dealer has an 07 on the floor, he says he is motivated and really wants it to go, what should I be paying? I have read some guys getting countrys and challenges for $7000.oo or less plus tax and title in the last month or two. That seems like too much to hope for. 2- Is there a larger fuel tank option for the country?

Anybody have any battery problems? Mine got down to a charge of 10 after a quick stop, mid commute. Lucky for me, it died three blocks from where the NYC ADV riders meet up in Manhattan every tuesday, and someone was able to help me charge the battery. Once it got back up to 12, it started again. Any ideas on what caused this problem?
Thanks! |
