Here's the link for the HB website product page. If you click on the little PDF icons you can download the spec sheets that show mounting instructions. The PDFs are in english half way through.

reposted here for more appropriate forum placement:
Greetings, I have inherited a BMW G650XCountry, it has about 300 miles on it, most of which I put on for my dad. Yadda yadda yadda, the bike is now mine because he now longer has use for it. Sooo, I have a few questions about this, since I never intended to own or ride a BMW. But now I have one, and want to make the most of it. First - I cannot figure out the seat height adjustment. I see the hand nut under the shock spring, but I twist it up and down and can't seem to see if that's adjusting the height. Then I see there's a big lock nut and another nut you can turn that's on a threaded shaft that goes to the hinge the shock attaches to. I was wondering if THAT's what I have to turn. Anyone got some protips for me? Second - the "hard/soft" knob under the seat on the port side: what does it do, how do I use it? I am 6'1", 200 lbs. Third - Maintenace: what do I do? There's no BMW shop nearby, the closest would be 3 hours away. I am just at 300 miles now, though the bike was bought in April of 2007, so it's been 15 months of acquiring those miles. I've charged the battery recently, but done nothing else. Fourth - is this bike totally sweet? I have had a Suzuki SV 650 in the past and rode it alot, and I've done the 300 miles on this so far. But I really don't know what I have, he bought the bike as a runabout for his motorhome, and then became terminally ill and never had a chance to ride it. So if anyone can help me out with those questions, I'd really appreciate it. |

Fourth - is this bike totally sweet?
Your father had impeccable taste. The Xcountry is perhaps the best all-purpose motorcycle you can buy. Whether flying 100mph on the autobahn, ferring fancy ladies in the city, or crawling over hard-core alpine terrain, the bike performs beautifuly. It's sexy, nimble, powerful and responsive. When you toss in the 70mpg, this is quite possibly the most perfect and totally sweet vehicle in the world. Just my 2 cents. |

Here's a little teaser, boys...................without photos.
I got my Scorpion Exhaust today and it makes a huge difference. Let's just say I clutched up a wheelie in third gear today. It's never done that before. I also installed a BMW windscreen, and black Cycra shields (to replace the white ones) Now before everyone asks, ya, it's loud!!!!! Photos tomorrow.

This is what it says on the underside of the pipe. ![]() Here's the pipe installed. ![]() Here's what I had to do to the turn signals because they were hitting the pipe. ![]() here's the windscreen and handguards. ![]() Thanks to whomever gave us the tip about lowering the rear shock. The bike was getting really twitchy and headshakey, and by lowering the shock, it's rock solid now.

Great thread folks. A newbie here and I read the entire thread as research for which bike to buy. I'm narrowing it down to the XCountry or a used KTM 640 Adventure (if I can find one). I was concerned about buying something that I'll hate riding off-road. It's good to see some pics of it in some technical terrain. If anyone has ridden both the KTM and the BMW, I would appreciate some feedback. The other factor in my decision is a dealer. I have a BMW dealer less than 10 minutes from me, but I get the impression they offer little or no discount from MSRP.A KTM dealer is about an hour away if I need parts or service I can't do myself. Thanks again for a great forum. Enduros and trail riding are great, but some of the trip reports on here are amazing! |

Robbie - I like the turn signals up like that. Looks mean!
Da Prez - There are a couple used Xcountrys out there, now that it's been out for a year. You might be able to find one here or on ebay. You could ask the dealer if they can find you a demo model too. |

Here's a photo of the stock pipe, with the tail tidy and the stock turn signals. ![]() The Licence plate holder is a Tail Tidy that I was able to fit the stock lights onto. I was also able to retrofit the stock mudflap to the tail tidy to keep the flying mud to a minimum. The setup works great.

Lewis, the windscreen is the one for the R 1200R, but it uses the X-Country mounting bracket. It's a joke to install. It took about 10 minutes in total.
As for the price, don't ask! I bought a bunch of stuff all at once, but I believe it was about $300 for the screen and 100 for the bracket. Not cheap, but I don't have the time to fab up some type of "pooratech" setup. (plus, I don't drink, so riding is my drug of choice. Consider it beer money) Rob

Thanks Rob,
I know the BM parts is a pain in the Ass but this windscreen's got a much more nice looking design than all those I've see so far. Unfortunatly, the price is going the same way. The reason I ask is that I found a cheaper one but It's a little bit smaller (28cm) and I don't know if It 'll be protecting enough the body at 100 m/h. Here it is:
