There's a few I've seen over the last few months of watching the site, including myself. Picked up a Ulysses this fall, and I've been keeping an eye out for ideas for next year.

There are several Iowa based riders here and there is good riding in the state you just have to know where to look. I put together a ride last fall we covered about 200 miles of gravel in Jackson county. What part of Iowa are from?

Get a dirt bike. I'm mean a real dirt bike. You can ride those all winter long on the ice and snow, if it's less than a foot of snow.

I know that there is 3.5 of us inmates in Des Moines. In this area we have the "Alternate" Dragoon Trail (100 mile gravel road) that goes from Des Moines to Fort Dodge. Lake Red Rock to Des Moines section isn`t worthy but that`s another 100 miles. Neil Smith Prarie Conservation area auto tour route (gravel) thru buffalo herds and we also have the bridges of Madison County!
I know, not very exciting but better than nothing.

Unless there has been a lot of paving going in IA lately, there are a lot of good gravel roads. SE, NE have a lot of interesting options to investigate! I'm sure the rest has as much to see and ride. Just ride Township and County roads!

I'm in Iowa, but brand new here, and don't own a Dualsport. Yet.

But I'm here.

WOW !

Really glad to see all of you . I my self am a river rat, grew up and live in the DesMoines river valley near Boone 50 min NW of DesMoines. I do plenty of gravel travel and if I get new tires soon plan on some winter riding. Does any one know if were dual registered DNR and DMV if we can hit the medians like the snowmobilers?

Did'nt know that me and my 1.5 budies with dual sports will have to check that out and end up in the ohv park in dodge. Maybe will see you guys there or at trophies for a dual sport, enduro, and motard show out at bike night.

The best part of the "Alternate" Dragoon Trail goes under the Kate Shelley Bridge (worlds longest tallest RR bridge or something like that?) and across the Wagon Wheel Bridge near Boone. Very scenic. But temporary closed for some kind of Bridge construction. I worked on some detours for the detours and I keep getting lost . The Alternate (gravel) trail doesn`t start untill you get up to Boone. I`m just by my lonesome out exploring. No buddies with dual-sports. I`ve been busy mapping out the exact route (or more scenic) with my 20 year old GPS and a map. I also take a different way back to Des Moines that really takes you out in the middle of nowhere. In no hurry but round trip took me six hours. It`s fun.
