I'm diggin the pictures, guys.

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but I've been thoroughly impressed with Kolor Autopano Giga as a stitching program. It allows you to right click an entire folder of photos and it will go through and automatically detect panoramas. Then you just edit slightly, crop, and render. I've had some fantastic results out of just a 8mp point and shoot.

That said, ALOT of what makes a good panorama goes into the way the photos are taken. I haven't had much luck with the Panorama assist mode found on many cameras lately. I've had the best of luck with the rule of one thirds. Take a photo, move the camera one third of the frame over, then another. Eventually the panorama will be three layers deep and that seems to give Autopano lots of room and points to merge. Leave lots of room for cropping.





Full 360s are a little weird to look at laid out. I don't have very many that DON'T look distorted. I try to keep it 180 degrees or less.

If u take your series in Portrait not landscape u get less rubbish u have to crop out after it has been stiched together. U do have to take more photos in your sequence though.
