The platform meets the SCTA regs for dimensions. And no the SCTA doesn't allow passengers. The BUB meet at Bonneville does allow passengers. But I'm sure as soon as one of the passengers slips off the back at speed that will end. Hey Ernie! How are you doing? Why should a recumbent sidecar scare you? Less drag thats all. Plus its LOW impact should the worst happen. The motor in the outfit is a spare I bought for the Norton but Weslakes tend to be bullet proof so I built the outfit around the spare motor just for the hell of it. Had the motor in the Norton last year and it ran 125. The record at El Mirage for 500cc sidecars is 101. This is it with the nose. [/IMG]

Here's a picture of the newest addition to my stable. 1978 Yamaha SR500 with 1970 Jawa Velorex Model 560 sidecar. It's like the two were made for each other.

Someday I hope to go after a land speed record of some sort.

Maybe steam power, or sail, or sidecar, or under 100cc...
it looks like a lot of fun.

It's a nice looking rig, let us know how you do.
Is the sidecar wheel & fairing from an ultralight?
It looks familiar to me.

Wink

The sidecar wheel is a 5" kart wheel. The fairing is home made like everything else. Made in that overcrowded garage.

That is a nice, classic looking rig. Well done!

Mr Moto in Atlanta, I am curioous about if you can get on the freeway with that, if the bike is stock, how the SC attaches, and where you found it?

Mr Hoo, it just seems like it would be harder to see lying down that way. A kneeler makes more sense to me, but maybe you can't get low enough that way?
Is that little wheel on the rear right what makes it a sidecar?! I'm afraid it wopuld be more unstable. Seems like if you turned the bars either way it would freak out in some way. I don't mean to hand you a bag of poop, I just don't understand. Might you educate me? Wouldn't you need a wider stance and some ballast on there?

Its a speed record bike. It isn't going to turn(one hopes). It just needs to go as fast as possible in a straight line and back again.

Good luck on the run ~

yup, nice rig...I was next in line to buy it if it didn't go to Atlanta!

It came all the way from our neck of the woods, Mike...southern Ontario. Nice classic Velorex 560 rigged to the old kickstart SR thumper. It was featured in Cycle Canada's "showcase" last year.

Really sweet ride, great pickup Troy! I'm envious...

VERY NICE TROY! Should be a good matchup.
Wish you could have stopped by on your return trip :-)
