The Machinegun could come in handy in traffic.

Hi guys, thanks for your messages :)

Yeah, I like the paint too, not the same if cloudy or sunny, that's funny
but it's matt, therefore very fragile with the dog's claws :-/

Very comfy

Anyway, the bike is quite old, 21 yrs now, but only 48000 kms

Choda set-up is pretty particular, single arm fork, car's wheels (Toyota I believe) and brakes, and there is an additionnal frame below the bike, so that there are less effort for the bike frame, compared to other hacks like that one for example (belonging to a friend of mine) :

The riding is physical at the beginning, compared to some other sidecars

However, it is very stable, as the pod is quite heavy (let's say 80 kilos + fuel tank of 20 liters when filled in + doggy 30 kg + all my wife's clothes )

Flying the chair remains of course possible, even loaded...

A quick vid as I lent the sidecar to a friend of mine, his very first time riding a sidecar... and flying it

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xjb...-en-choda_auto

Regarding the torque, because of French law, the engine is 100 HP limited, but well, who cares.... it is far enough to powerslide if needed

some pix below, and if you're interested, I will make a proper ride report for a further trip ?

Have a nice day !

Murph and Dusty did a shakedown cruise today at the car show they have in Arlington, Tx. We didn't stick around for trying to win any trophy, as the triple digit heat here was just too bad. Besides, Mama called an' said supper was ready. Still, we got to the car show and back without losing anything major along the way. Pretty good shakedown cruise, but we still have a few more mods to make on the rig. Fun at the show in just listenin' to folk who are always excited to see the hack pooches. Love to hear folk claim there is no way in the world that the bike is a 2005 model. Lots of fun in talking bikes and enjoying the conversation with folk. Murph and Dusty made a lot of new friends tonight. The show is done every Friday night, so lots of time to try to win something at a later date.

Unfortunately, I didn't have much time to muck with pictures of the show, as the folk kept the questions going the entire time we were there.

Just sayin Hey,

Hi,
Been lurking for a while now, this is my first post, thought I would get round to a gday and pic's of my hack.
I'm in Brisbane' north west, long history with all sorts of bikes, but fixated on hacks now, tragic...

I brought it 18 months ago simply to try out the sidecar thing, it only took a week to get hooked, since sold my solo bike and its the only ride at the moment. I have been riding it as a daily driver, in preference to the the car for the commute, shopping school etc. Also enjoy a blat thru the twistys, and did one weekend away loaded up with the camping gear etc, went well on the highway.

Bike is a 83 Suzuki GS1100G and the car is a 83 single seat DJP.
The mods have been a steerite triple tree, progressive springs front and back, and a fork brace. Considering the age of it all its a bit of a rolling resto job too.

in the twistys

Cheers, John

Had a GS1000GL for 25 years with a double HRD. Loved it. Hope you enjoy it for many years yet.

Hi John, nice looking rig.
I have a GS1100GKE in the shed which is going to get a chair "one of these days".

What can you tell me about the steerite triples?

Their only the best thing since sliced bread, the best $800 odd bucks I spent on it.
Obviously without it the steerings was too heavy, now its easy at any speed, and i can change lines in a corner if it need to. plus there are no more head shakes.

The mod consists of cutting and welding the lower clamps, and maching the top, so the forks are angled further forward, to reduce the trail.

I went with the steerite because it was cheaper than the quotes I got for leading links, another plus it still looks like a bike.

Great pic . What kind of camera do you use to get such an awesome shot ? I want to upgrade to a nice digital and retire my old-school 35mm Leica's.
