First time I went out to play a bit in snow... well.
Fortunately I met with some other players, who brought proper equipment to play with. their 4x4 pulled me back up the hill.
Apart from the 2 hour sweating pushing, pulling, swearing the bike up on a hill with the rearwheel just turning and turning in 1st gear... I enjoyed it really much.

A few pictures of my hack:

what size of snowchain would fit on 130 / R15 tire?

I can help with the bike, it is a Jawa 350cc (21c.i.?) 2 stroke twin. They had a tie in with CZ and were very solid bikes with a good reputation for being unsophisticated plodders.

Excatly.

The bike is a Jawa model 638, 1989 (probably the worst model. The previous jawa 350 the 634 was somewhat better engineered, and the later modells has a lot of upgrades to keep alive on the market after the collapse of the Warsaw-pack) either way, it's more or less reliable and not a lot can go wrong with it. Most of its faults are really easy to fix and parts are again really cheap. I'd recommend the older modell though with an electric ignition (the original point-type needed readjustment at every 600km. ) if somebody feels like to have an old smokey for odd days. :) It's about 25Hp, so just capable of dragging the sidecar around on smaller roads with the speed of 70-80km/h. top speed in solo vsrsion is about 130-140 (depends on your ignition and carburettor settings. ;) ) My bike is modified. An endless list of stuff had been replaced. check pictures of the original Jawa350TS.

the sidecar was made for Pannonia a 250 bike. The body is made of aluminium, so it does not rust. Originally it had a mudguard and lights on top. No brakes. I bought this one from a guy who used it on a dniepr (ural - bmw clone)

I fixed az MZ125 16 coll wheel on it, with drum brakes.

the rig is far from finished but it is road legal and goes.

Oh, if you are interested.

A bunch of pictures about the progress of building the bike can be seen here:

bikepics.com/members/hzoltaan

the album: 1989 Jawa TS 350 Twin Sport is the one.

the first picture shows the bike as I bought it. (more or less as it came out of the factory) After that come the modifications...

you can find picture of the sidecar as it emerges from the foil packing after DHL dropped it by the garage... :)

I take that as a compliment. :)
I'm Hungarian, the boss at home is Polish, we speak english day and night. I also love to read books in English.

About this last picture... I had to strech my 3D imagination to it's limits to actually understand what I see...?!

It is a Scott Socialite, "a cross between a sidecar and a three-wheeler."

Shockingly, it was not a commercial success

The nose cone is stock from the Duna sidecar. It is a beautiful chair which I have always admired, an artistic and original expression uncommon in communist industrial design.

I had once coveted the idea of pairing a Duna with a BMW R1200C, as their aesthetics are well-matched.

There are some more pics when you Google "Scott Tricar", but not much info.

Fortunately there is still a lot of Duna sidecars on the market. As they were made of aluminium, they do not rot away that easily. I'd say, for something like 200$ you can get one in OK condition. You can get the cone as spare part. the rest is fiberglass... ;)

I just checked on the ebay-like website from home. There is a cone listed from 5$. (possibly it will end somwhere around 20). I also found a full sidecar in barn-found state. (needs cleaning, painting, but complete) That has a fix price, 250 dollars... If you happen to have holidays in the neighbourhood.... :)

I was really lucky to find this in Poland when I was looking for a sidecar.
