He should get one of those toy Mattel motors that you used to get to put on your bicycle, and put that in the engine place.

Watsonian box sidecar

Hi, this is a BSA A10 with a Watsonian box sidecar for carrying solo motorcycles etc. From when I was just 16 I spent the first 2 years of my new job as a trainee motorcycle mechanic riding one of these for Motor Sales Birmingham LTD Smethwich UK, but first with a Norton 600cc big four, and then with a Ariel 600cc VB with the new swinging arm type frame. It could carry a new Ariel 1000cc square four, 4 new Cyclemaster wing wheels, 5 gallon of petrol, and all the spare parts that I had to collect from the other dealers and motorcycle factories around the Birmingham area. What a brilliant job that was, and it started my love of sidecars. When I was 18 I started to race sidecar motocross, and I went on to win 4 AMCA UK, and the European IMBA sidecar championship.

Johnny,
Your rig sounds good but I cannot see the photo. I had an A10 back in the 1960's so would like to see the picture.

And while I'm at it, I can't hardly see those pics Jehu posted of what looks like a nice rig. So I brightened them up a bit--

Turns out that rig looks better in the dark!

This sidecar outfit belongs to a guy Adhi Utama who lives in Holland and he has sent me a number of other photographs of this outfit. Most of the motorcycle dealer used these box type Watsonian sidecars for transporting their bikes in the 1950s and 60s, with very young riders.

That is one neat rig.

OK, here's what I did, but this won't work unless all the balls line up.

First, I go to the faulty post and click on the "Quote" button. Then I click on the "Switch Editor Mode" button which is in the top right corner of the "Reply to Thread" window. This reveals the hidden html codes in the post that I'm quoting. That's when I find the bad picture code and discover that it's from Photobucket. Then I take a guess that Johnny's Photobucket account name is the same as his ADV name so I use Google to search for Johnny Wolvo Photobucket. And I find it. Then, I am happy to discover that you have your Photobucket account set to "Public" not "Private" so that means I can poke around and look at your pics. Luckily, it was pretty easy to find the Watsonian pic. Then I copy the "direct link" code on the right side of the Photobucket page. Finally, I go back to the "Reply to Thread" window and delete everything, write my message, and paste the direct link I copied into the window that pops up when you click on the "Insert Image" button.

It sounds complicated, but basically it's pretty sequential. Step 1 is to find the URL of the pic you're after. Step 2 is to use the "Insert Image" button to post it.

For simple posting of images from your own PB account, just open up the pic, copy the info in the "Direct Link" box next to the pic, then go to the post you're composing and paste the link into the "Insert Image" box. Note: if no "Direct Link" box appears on your picture page then you need to go into your PB User Settings for "Albums" and fix it.

Grandkids first sidecar ride

Takes a lot to excite my 5 year old Grandson. His reaction from the ride was somewhat apathetic.

My Grand daughter on the other hand was excited and thought it was "cool & fun".

Hiya Drone, That sound so very complicated for a 77 year old, but i am going to give it a try tonight. Thank you so much for your help, just wish computers were Norton Commando engines, now they are simple!!! Where did you learn all this computer stuff from? You are my friend for life....John W,
